Ingredients
The 6 ingredients that I use to make these banana Rice Krispie treats are listed below. It’s similar to traditional treats with extras to give it that banana pudding flavor.

- Marshmallows: Mini marshmallows are my first choice because they melt the easiest and quickest. Regular-sized ones are great in a pinch, but they take a little more time to melt completely and evenly.
- Rice Krispies: Any crispy rice cereal, including the Rice Krispies brand, will work fine in this recipe. Just ensure that you grab the right size box!
- Banana pudding mix: You won’t need the milk because you won’t be making pudding with the mix. It goes with the marshmallow to give the treats a banana flavor. Grab an extra box of pudding at the store to make these banana pudding brownies next!
- White chocolate chips: I melt the white chocolate and drizzle it on top right before letting it set. Add as much or as little as you like. I find it brings richness that complements the banana pudding with marshmallows.
- Nilla wafers: Make sure you add these immediately after the white chocolate so they stick to the cereal mixture. I space them enough so you get one on each square.
See the recipe card below for exact ingredient amounts, nutritional information, and detailed instructions.
Variations
- Butterscotch: Try making this recipe with melted butterscotch chips instead of white chocolate chips for a slightly different yet sweet and buttery flavor.
- Add nuts: Sprinkle chopped nuts like peanuts or pecans on top for extra texture and crunch.
- Add chocolate: Swap out half of the white chocolate chips with semi sweet chocolate!
How to Make Banana Rice Krispie Treats
Here are the instructions needed to make these banana-flavored Rice Krispie Treats. It’s just like the classic recipe, except with banana pudding mix!

Step 3: Press the mixture into the pan. Transfer the mixture to the 9x13 pan and gently press it down evenly.

Step 4: Add toppings. Drizzle melted white chocolate on top and add the Nilla wafers.

Step 5: Cool and serve. Allow the treats to fully cool on the counter for an hour or half an hour in the refrigerator. Slice it into squares and enjoy!
Recipe Tips
- Melt don't cook: Keep the pot over the heat just until the marshmallows are melted, and then remove it.
- Fold in the white chocolate chips: You may add the white chocolate when you add the cereal, so you get little pockets of white chocolate on each bite instead of melting and drizzling it on top.
- Use low heat for the marshmallows: Don’t let the heat get too high, or you will scorch the marshmallows.
- Storing: Store them either on the counter or in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Keep them at room temperature for a chewier texture.

Pack the treats into the pan loosely to preserve their texture. Packing them too tightly will result in the finished dessert being dense and tough.
Of course! Crush a few wafers and fold them into the marshmallow and cereal mixture.
Yup! Use a mini muffin tin to make smaller treats or cut them mini-sized. This is fun for parties!
