These Fruity Pebbles Treats are one of my favorite versions of a classic Rice Krispie treat. They add a lighter and crisper texture with a sweet, fruity flavor. Not only are they easy to make, but the range of colors makes them super cute and fun for any occasion.

I love the nostalgia of cereals like Fruity Pebbles. It creates a memorable bite that everyone will be lining up for. Be prepared to share the recipe because I guarantee most people will ask, or they will ask you to make it for every special event in the future.

    Why You'll Love This Recipe

    • It's only 4 ingredients: You need just 4 simple ingredients to make this delightful marshmallow fruity Pebbles snack. The butter and marshmallows are staples in any good gooey treat.
    • It's fun and delicious: These treats are both tasty and fun! The bright colors of the cereal give off a playful and whimsical vibe.
    • You can make it last minute: These come together quickly and don't need several hours to set. I even prepare this Fruity Pebbles marshmallow treats recipe right before I serve it.

    Ingredients

You only need the 4 ingredients below to make these Fruity Pebble treats. I keep it perfectly simple and let the flavor of the cereal speak for itself.

Ingredients for fruity pebbles rice krispie treats on a table.
    • Butter: I like salted butter for this recipe to balance the sweetness of the cereal and the marshmallows. If you use unsalted, add about ½ teaspoon of salt to keep that balance.
    • Marshmallows: I prefer mini marshmallows for these treats.
    • Fruity Pebbles: You can't have Fruity Pebble Rice Krispie treats without the cereal! Get the Post brand for this and trust me!

See the recipe card below for exact ingredient amounts, nutritional information, and detailed instructions.

    Variations

    • White chocolate: Stir in some white chocolate chips or add a white chocolate drizzle for extra richness.
    • Add Oreos: Fold in crushed original or golden Oreos for more texture.
    • Cocoa Pebbles: Swap the cereal for its chocolatey counterpart, Cocoa Pebbles, for a fun twist.
    • Marshmallow Fruity Pebbles: Try this recipe with Marshmallow Fruity Pebbles, which is like the classic version with the addition of small marshmallow bits.

How to Make Fruity Pebbles Treats

Here are the steps needed to make tasty treats made of Fruity Pebbles with marshmallows. The directions are super straightforward!

Butter, marshmallows and vanilla extract melting in a saucepan.

Step 1: Melt the mixture. Melt the butter in the saucepan first. Then, add the marshmallows and vanilla extract. Stir until it's creamy and remove the pan from the heat.

Fruity pebbles added to the marshmallow mixture.

Step 2: Add the cereal. Gently fold in the Fruity Pebbles until the cereal is fully coated.

The mixture transferred into the baking pan and gently spread and press it down evenly

Step 3: Transfer to the pan. Pour the mixture into the baking pan and gently spread and press it down evenly.

Finished fruity pebbles treat cooled in the baking pan and a slice served.

Step 4: Cool and serve. Let it cool at room temperature for about an hour before you slice and enjoy! For an extra special treat, enjoy with a scoop of strawberry and banana ice cream.

    Recipe Tips

    • Don't pack them too tightly: If you pack the cereal too tightly, it can cause the treats to be hard and dense. Push the mixture gently into the pan.
    • Watch the heat: Remove the pan from the heat as soon as the marshmallows are melted. If they overheat, they may burn or not set properly with the other ingredients.
    • Only mix until combined: You don't want to overmix the cereal mixture, either. This will crush the cereal and mess with the crunchy texture.
    • Storing: Store the treats on the counter or in the refrigerator for up to 5 days in an airtight container. You may freeze them for up to 1 month.

    Serving Suggestions

    • Enjoy a fruity shot like a Scooby Doo shot or a Mexican candy shot with your Fruity Pebble treat.
    • Decorate them with some butterfly pretzels for a fun spring theme.
    • They make a perfect sweet treat after a comforting meal like this Big Mac tater tot casserole.

    Recipe FAQs

Can I let them cool in the refrigerator?

Yes. You can pop the pan in the refrigerator for 30 minutes instead of on the counter for an hour.

Should I grease the pan first?

With all the butter, I find that the fruity pebbles and marshmallows don't really stick to the pan. I usually skip it.

How can I make slicing them easier?

A hot knife works wonders! Run the blade under hot water for a few seconds and it will slice into the Krispie treats easier and give you cleaner pieces.

    Notes

    • Store any leftovers in an airtight container on the counter to keep them chewy or in the fridge to make them crunchy.
    • There's no need to grease the pan because the treats have plenty of butter to keep them from sticking to the bottom.
    • Allow them to cool in the fridge to cut the waiting time in half.
