Who we are:
We are the kitchen divas: Karin and my partner in life Ken.
We have been attached at the heart and hip since the first day we met, and we love to create new dishes to keep things interesting. Variety is definitely the spice of life!
Even though neither of us has any formal training we have always had a passion, some might say obsession, with food, recipes, cooking and eating! We live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and so are surrounded by an abundance of great restaurants; but more often than not we prefer to stay home and eat in.
We are all about simplifying mealtime:
Trying to make meals fast and easy to help make your life as simple as possible. Our focus is on taking stress out of the kitchen, while creating incredible dishes.
You certainly don’t have to sacrifice quality to save time. I am self- taught, with a passion for home cooked meals inspired by both of my grandmothers. For our site Kitchen Divas and our recipes, I am the main mess maker, baker, photographer and writer. Ken does all of the barbecuing and cooks all of the shellfish (I am deathly allergic). Together we make one awesome team! He, our boys, and friends and family are the main food testers.
We have modernized and simplified some old-time favorites. We always try not to mess with perfection. These recipes are a mix of our own creations, recipes shared by friends and family, and recipes adapted from magazines, newspapers and books over the last 40 years. Where possible, we have listed the originating source.
We have organized our “tried and true” recipes and take photos of each, so you can see exactly what you are making.
The recipes on this site are designed to produce great results while encouraging you to add your own twists and tweaks. We have only included our successes here, for obvious reasons. Once all of our favorites have been loaded onto the site we will get back to experimenting and creating new, original recipes.
This is our personal website. You will not find tens of thousands of recipes here or tons of duplicated recipes. This is what we eat. These are the dishes I would serve on my menu if I were a Chef or owned a restaurant.

It’s hard to find the time to cook a homemade meal, let alone experiment with recipes in hopes to find ones that works. This is a way for us to share our favorite; easy recipes with busy people around the world and encourage them to cook from scratch. The recipes shown here use mostly whole food ingredients and only occasionally a few things from cans or prepared foods. We believe in a varied, healthy diet, using real butter, real cream, eggs, lots of green vegetables, and protein from meat, fish, beans, and cheese. The rewards that come from menu planning and preparation are worth it, even if it may be a little time consuming! I take pride in making as much as I can “from scratch.” There are times however when I do get a little help from the supermarket.
If you’re new to the kitchen it is easy to become overwhelmed or intimidated with cooking. You don’t need to be a trained chef or know a bunch of fancy cooking terms in order to learn and enjoy cooking awesome meals! I have vivid memories of my grandmothers and the foods they used to make so many years ago; and it is our hope that we will inspire you to get into the kitchen and create beautiful meals and memories with your families.
This website has proven to be an incredible adventure for us, me specifically. We are excited to share our recipes with you and hope you enjoy them.
