If you want a simple yet healthy treat, you have to try these Chocolate Covered Blueberries. They are so easy to make and everyone loves them! Make them as a snack, and enjoy them on yogurt, or another dessert. Kids and adults alike can’t get enough of these. I love them too, so I don’t blame them.

A stack of chocolate covered blueberries with one cut in half to show fresh blueberry.

The fresh ripe blueberries are wonderfully sweet and a little tart. Many of the larger ones are juicy, too! When covered in melted milk chocolate, it adds a sweet and rich coating on the outside. It feels like you’re eating a decadent treat!

Why You’ll Love This Chocolate Covered Blueberries Recipe

    • Only 2 ingredients: All you need are fresh blueberries and milk chocolate chips for this recipe.
    • Budget-friendly: Super inexpensive ingredients make it affordable for any budget.
    • Prepared in 5 minutes: In 5 minutes the chocolate blueberries are ready to chill.

    Ingredients

Even though you only need two ingredients to make this tasty treat, it’s still a favorite of mine!

A bowl of blueberries and bowl of chocolate chips on a countertop with some scattered on the table.
    • Blueberries: Fresh and ripe blueberries are best for this recipe. I use a pint but this recipe is easy to double, too.
    • Chocolate chips: High-quality chocolate melts best. I use milk chocolate chips but any melting milk chocolate is great as well.

See the recipe card below for exact ingredient amounts, nutritional information, and detailed instructions.

    Variations

    • White Chocolate Blueberries: Try this recipe with melted white chocolate instead of dark chocolate.
    • Cinnamon Chocolate Blueberries: Add a pinch of cinnamon to the melted chocolate before you coat the berries for some warmth
    • Coconut Chocolate Blueberries: Sprinkle shredded coconut on the berry clusters before you chill them for a tropical twist.
    • Chocolate Nut Blueberry Clusters: Add chopped walnuts or pecans to make blueberry nut clusters.
    • Dark Chocolate Blueberries: Use rich dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate for a deeper flavor.

How to Make Chocolate Covered Blueberries

The instructions are very easy and quick. It will take you around 5 minutes to prepare them! Remember to line your baking sheet with parchment before you get started.

Step 1: Melt the chocolate chips. Add the milk chocolate chips to a microwave-safe bowl. Heat them in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each one until smooth.

Step 2: Stir in the blueberries. Carefully add the blueberries to the melted chocolate and stir to coat them.

Step 3: Scoop the clusters. Scoop a cluster of chocolate-coated blueberries with a spoon and place it on the parchment paper. Repeat the process until all of the berries have been used.

Step 4: Chill. Place the pan in the refrigerator and allow the blueberries to set and the chocolate to slightly harden. It should take around 30 minutes.

⭐ Hint: If you don't want a lot of chocolate on the blueberries, use a fork and gently tap it on the edge of the bowl and allow excess chocolate to drip off before putting it on the parchment.

    Storage Directions

    • Refrigeration: Store these blueberry clusters in an airtight container for up to 4 days in the refrigerator. Place parchment in between each layer to keep them from sticking together.
    • Freezing: Place the clusters in a freezer-safe bag and place a piece of parchment in between each layer. Freeze them for up to 1 month. I recommend enjoying them straight from the freezer. Thawed out the texture of the fresh berries will change.

    Serving Suggestions

    • Top Mini German Pancakes with these blueberry clusters for a rich and fruity twist. They are also tasty on top of a bowl of Pancake Cereal.
    • For extra chocolate flavor, use them as a topping for Chocolate French Toast.
    • These make a great garnish for desserts, too. Add them to Rainbow Cupcakes or Jello Cool Whip Pie for a chocolatey bite.

    Recipe Tips

    • Dry the berries thoroughly: Ensure that the blueberries are completely dry after you wash them. Excess moisture will cause the melted chocolate to seize.
    • Try a cupcake pan and liners: Instead of lining a baking sheet, you may add liners to a cupcake pan and drop scoops of chocolate blueberry clusters into each one.
    • Use a double boiler: If you don’t have a microwave or don’t want to use it, try the double boiler method with a heat-safe glass bowl over a pot of hot water.

    Recipe FAQs

Can the blueberries be set at room temperature?

Yes. They will take longer than in the refrigerator so if you’re willing to wait, you may leave them at room temperature.

    Can I use frozen blueberries?

I do not recommend it. They carry excess moisture and have a softer texture when thawed.
