Variations for this Chocolate Pecan Recipe
If you're not a fan of using pecans, you really don't have to. You can easily swap out the pecans for peanuts, walnuts, or any other type of nut that you want.
You can also opt to use different types of chocolate chips and flavors as well if you're not a fan of white chocolate chips. If you're ready and looking for a way to vary up this recipe so that it looks and tastes different, you pretty much have free reign to make that easily happen.
What happens if I burn the chocolate in the microwave?
You have to be very careful about this. If you're not, you're going to burn the chocolate and have to throw it out. This is why I always recommend melted it in intervals so that you can stop and stir and make certain that you're not burning it.
If you do happen to burn it, you do need to throw it in the trash because if not, your chocolate is going to have a burnt taste that is going to carry throughout and make it quite noticeable.
What if my chocolate doesn't harden?
You need the chocolate to cool and harden to sit up properly. If it doesn't, you need to give it more time and possibly even pop it in the freezer to speed up the process.
How do you store chocolate-covered pecan clusters once made?
To keep these as fresh as possible for as long as possible, you need to store these in an airtight container in the fridge. This will help them to stay perfectly hardened yet soft to enjoy and eat.
And if you realize that you have too many to enjoy in a short amount of time, you should consider adding them to the freezer as well. As long as you have the proper freezer-container to keep them good, you can freeze them for a few weeks without any issue.
More Topping Ideas for Chocolate Covered Pecans
Don't forget to make these treats your own as well. As you can see from the recipe, I've topped them with green M&Ms for the holiday season but you can totally change it up and try out new toppings, too.
Sprinkle on extra chocolate chips, drizzle caramel, top with shredded coconut, or think about another sweet topping that you love. As long as your taste buds love it, go for it!
It is important to add though that if you're going to freeze these for later, you need to wait and add on the toppings after you unthaw to enjoy. This will make them super fresh and add a lot more flavor to each and every bite.
