- To ensure your toast is cooked thoroughly, heat your pan over low-medium heat and cook each side for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown.
- When spreading melted chocolate between two pieces of French toast try using a butter knife or the back of a small spoon as opposed to pouring chocolate directly onto the slices.
- Assemble all ingredients prior to beginning so that everything is ready when needed.
- Let the egg mixture sit for a few minutes to ensure that it is fully incorporated before coating your bread slices in it.
- Toast each side of the French toast on low heat until golden brown, ensuring that all of the chocolate chips are melted throughout before serving.
- If using day-old bread slices allow them to soak longer than 5 seconds so that they can absorb the maximum amount of egg mixture.
- Make sure to evenly coat each side of the bread with the egg mixture so that it is completely covered and will cook properly.
FAQ
You can use a kitchen thermometer to ensure that your French toast is cooked through. The internal temperature should be about 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
Sure! You can also melt the chocolate chips by using a double boiler. As an alternative, you can also place a heat-proof bowl over a pot with simmering water and stir until melted.
To make sure that the egg mixture is evenly distributed to each slice of bread, try spooning it directly onto the surface after dredging each piece in the mixture. This will help ensure that every bite has enough flavor and moisture.

This such a fun treat. My kids love to help too. We like to add wild blueberries, when in season and my kids love to put "snow" (icing sugar) on top. Fun and delicious it's a great weekend breakfast!
