When you think of a dish that is hearty, delicious, and satisfying, what comes to mind? What about Chicken Marsala? This dish has all the qualities of an excellent meal. It's also very easy to prepare. What to serve with chicken marsala? We're here to give some suggestions!

    WHAT IS CHICKEN MARSALA?

Chicken Marsala is a dish that features chicken breast meat that has been dredged in flour and then sautéed in butter or olive oil. It's typically served with a sauce made from Marsala wine, which is a fortified wine from Sicily, and mushrooms.

My friend at Spend with Pennies makes the best chicken marsala in our opinion. Don't you think her picture looks amazing???!! We always make their version when we're in the mood and we are always looking for tasty sides to serve it with.

Cooking with wine or other alcohol is a common practice. The alcohol aspect is actually cooked out of the dish so you do not have to worry about it making you drunk when you use it for cooking. It simply helps with the flavor.

Another example of using wine in a recipe is our balsamic pork chops with wine and garlic and vodka pasta sauce.

Sides are a great addition to these sauce-based dishes. The flavor of the dish is in the sauce, and you can pour it over your side, or dip your side into it.

As mentioned above, this dish has all the qualities of a great meal. It's hearty and filling because it contains protein in the form of chicken breast meat. The sauce is creamy which makes it feel rich while still being light enough to not make you feel weighed down.

Chicken Marsala also tastes amazing! That wine flavor pairs perfectly with mushrooms, and the chicken is so juicy and tender.

WHY SHOULD YOU SERVE SIDES WITH THIS DISH?

When you serve Chicken Marsala, it is important to have sides that will pair well with the sauce. What goes better with a wine sauce than some good old carbs in the form of pasta or rice?

Or maybe you're looking for something a little healthier to go with your meal. In that case, we recommend serving steamed vegetables on the side.

For an even healthier option, you can go with roasted vegetables that are seasoned to taste delicious! What good is a sauce-based meal without some bread on the side? Toast up some garlic bread or serve it alongside your chicken marsala. What about serving mashed potatoes as well? The options are endless when thinking of what sides to serve with chicken marsala.

WHAT TO SERVE WITH CHICKEN MARSALA

Now that you've decided to serve chicken marsala, what are some good sides? What about our spinach and artichoke dip served with pita chips for dipping. This is a crowd-pleaser! Or if you're looking for something different, try serving the ranch dressing from this buffalo chicken dip recipe over your veggies as opposed to using blue cheese dressing.

Some common sides for chicken marsala are:

    • pasta
    • rice
    • mashed potatoes
    • salad
