Cream Cheese Biscuits
It’s important to understand that not all biscuits are created equal. There are some biscuits that just lack the main qualities that all biscuits should have. In my opinion, biscuits should have a great golden outer crust, a soft middle, and layers upon layers of perfectly flakey biscuit goodness.
And I should know. I’ve eaten hundreds of biscuits in my life. I can promise you that the criteria listed above are what makes a biscuit taste truly amazing.
The reason that these simple homemade biscuits are so good is because of the ingredient that just also happens to be the name of this post. The cream cheese combined with all the other needed items keep these biscuits flakey, moist, and delicious.
This is why I always make certain to have a package of cream cheese in the fridge—because this simple addition can easily change the texture and outcome of so many great recipes.

Everyone loves fluffy biscuits but this little tip is important. If you want to have fluffy biscuits, you need to be certain that you’re using cold butter in this recipe.

Is Butter or Shortening Better for Biscuits?
Butter! Butter! Again, butter! When you're making these cream cheese biscuits you're going to notice how butter adds that fluffiness and also a wonderful taste to your recipe as well. You could use shortening if you wanted too but it’s not going to give you all those layers that you’re looking for.

Can You Make Cream Cheese Biscuits Ahead of Time?
You bet. If you’re a meal prepper like I am, you can easily whip these up ahead of time to enjoy later.

How Do You Store Cooked Biscuits?
The best way to store perfectly flakey biscuits once they are cooked is to keep them in an airtight container. Once that air hits the biscuits, they’re going to start drying out.
And if that happens, don’t fret. You can bring them back to the land of softness by popping them in the microwave for a short amount of time. 10-15 seconds can do wonders for making a biscuit flakey again!

Tips for Making Cream Cheese Biscuits
Since this recipe is pretty straight forward, there aren’t a whole lot of tips to keep in mind. But below are just a few things to consider as you’re creating these flakey homemade biscuits.
Make certain that your butter is cold. This is absolutely key for making your biscuits flakey. If you skimp on this, the biscuits will still have flavor but they will not be tall and soft like you’re hoping for.
Make certain that you freeze the cream cheese. Freezing the cream cheese is another HUGE component to the outcome of these biscuits. Don’t skip this step either because it’s important!
Once your biscuits are golden brown, remove them from the oven. You don’t want to burn them or overcook them and you need to let them rest then for five minutes.
