This Oreo Delight is an amazing pudding dessert made with crunchy Oreo cookies. I love no-bake desserts, and this one is everyone’s favorite. I make it for summer cookouts, special events, or whenever I have a chocolate craving. It’s so easy to make, and that’s partly why I prepare it so often.

This dessert has 4 distinct layers: buttery Oreo crust, sweetened Cool Whip with Oreos, chocolate pudding, and vanilla cream on top. The freezer makes it perfectly firm, so it’s much easier to slice and serve, too.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- It takes 20 minutes to prepare: It doesn’t take long to put this Oreo delight dessert together. This makes it great to prep in advance, so it’s ready to enjoy after it sets in the freezer.
- It’s a crowd favorite: I have made this for party guests, bake sales, and just at home for the family, and everyone asks for the recipe. It’s always a huge hit!
- It’s inexpensive: You don’t need to spend a lot to make a great dessert recipe. The cost of the ingredients in this one is minimal, making it even more worth trying.
Ingredients
I included all the essential ingredients you’ll need for each layer of this Oreo delight with chocolate pudding. They are common items you can get at any grocery store.

- Butter: I add this to the crushed Oreo cookies to make the crust layer. It helps them stick together as it sets. It doesn’t need to be softened because it will be melted. I like to use salted butter.
- Oreos: Classic Oreos are best because there’s a little too much cream in the Double Stuff variety. Reserve a cup for another layer and garnishing!
- Cool Whip: I use some for two of the layers. One is sweetened with sugar and Oreos, the other has vanilla.
- Heavy cream: A small amount of heavy cream helps make the Cool Whip extra creamy and adds a different texture to this Oreo surprise recipe.
- Powdered sugar: I like to add powdered sugar to the whipped cream for just a bit of sweetness. It mixes well and keeps a smooth texture.
- Chocolate pudding mix and milk: Use instant chocolate pudding and whole milk (according to the package) to create the rich pudding layer. Sometimes, I use 2% milk in a pinch, but fat-free doesn’t set as well.
- Vanilla extract: This is one of my favorite ingredients to work with because it adds a subtle vanilla flavor while also enhancing the other flavors. I enjoy using pure vanilla when possible, but imitation works if it’s what you have on hand.
See the recipe card below for exact ingredient amounts, nutritional information, and detailed instructions.
Variations
- Vanilla pudding: Make this Oreo delight with vanilla pudding instead of chocolate for a fun twist.
- Peanut butter: Spread peanut butter over the Oreo layer to add a salty component to the Oreo cookie delight.
- Extra chocolate: Stir cocoa powder into the Cool Whip and Oreo cookie layer to make the dessert even more indulgent.
How to Make Oreo Delight
To make this no-bake Oreo delight recipe, start by crushing your Oreos in a food processor so they’re ready for each layer. I also like to measure the other ingredients at this time, too.

Step 1: Prepare the crust. Combine 2 cups of crushed Oreos with the melted butter. Press the mixture into the bottom of the baking dish to create the crust.

Step 2: Make the cream with Oreos. Mix the powdered sugar with half the cream, half Cool Whip, and a cup of crushed Oreos with an electric mixer until fluffy and creamy.

Step 3: Spread over the cookie layer. Spread the Cool Whip mixture over the top of the Oreo layer.

Step 4: Make and add the pudding. Whisk the chocolate pudding mix with the whole milk in a separate bowl. Pour it over the Cool Whip layer and spread it out evenly.

Step 5: Top with Cool Whip. Finish the Cool Whip Oreo dessert with mixing the remaining cream, Cool Whip, and vanilla extract. Spread the final layer over the chocolate pudding.

Step 6: Garnish, freeze, and serve. Sprinkle crumbled Oreos on top, cover it, and freeze it for at least 4 hours. Once firm, slice and enjoy!
Recipe Tips
- Slice with a hot knife: Heat the blade of your knife under hot water for a few seconds to warm it. This will give you clean, even slices!
- Use a Ziploc bag if needed: Not everyone has a food processor in their kitchen, so it’s totally acceptable to place the Oreos in a Ziploc bag and give them a good whack with a rolling pin.
- Don’t over mix the Cool Whip and cream: If you over mix it, it will lose its air and become runny and flat instead of light and fluffy. Keep it as cold as you can for best results, too!

Storage Directions
- Storing: Cover and store the Oreo delight in the freezer for up to 2 months or in the fridge for 2 days.
- Make Ahead: Since this Oreo dessert needs time in the freezer, I love to make it several hours in advance or even the night before serving. This ensures its ready when I need it!
Serving Suggestions
- Enjoy an adult beverage with this Oreo Cool Whip dessert, like a tequila espresso martini or nut roll shot. These have sweet and salty flavors to complement the Oreos.
- If you want to skip the spirits, a coffee milkshake is just as amazing!
- Make a tasty dinner like sweet chili salmon or flank steak stir fry, and finish the night with a slice of this Oreo cookie dessert.

Recipe FAQs
This can happen if it’s not properly stored in the freezer. I like to let the plastic wrap touch the surface of the Oreo layer dessert to prevent ice crystals or freezer burn.
I don’t! I find the butter in the cookie layer keeps it from sticking to the pan very well. You may do a light coating of nonstick cooking spray if you’re still worried.
Yes, but it takes on a different texture. It’s going to be much softer if you store it in the refrigerator.

Easy Oreo Delight
Ingredients
- ½ cup salted butter melted
- 3 cups crushed Oreos plus more for topping if desired
- 16 ounce cool whip thawed
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 5.9 ounce chocolate pudding mix
- 3 cups whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Stir together the melted butter, and 2 cups of crushed Oreos. Press the Oreo mixture into a 9x13 inch baking dish to create a crust. Set aside.
- Combine the powdered sugar, half the cool whip, half the cream, and 1 cup of crushed Oreos in a large mixing bowl. Use an electric hand mixer to whisk the ingredients together until smooth and creamy. Pour the mixture into the baking dish.
- Whisk together the chocolate pudding mix and milk until no clumps remain. Pour the pudding into the baking dish and carefully smooth it out over the first layer of cool whip.
- Whisk together the remaining cool whip, cream, and vanilla in a large bowl for 1-2 minutes, or until smooth. Carefully spread the cool whip over the pudding.
- Chill your Oreo delight in the freezer for 4 hours. Slice, serve, and enjoy!
Notes
- Tightly cover the Oreo Delight with plastic wrap to ensure it doesn’t form ice crystals in the freezer.
- The buttery Oreo crust does a great job keeping the dessert from sticking to the bottom, so I skip the nonstick cooking spray.
- Don’t overmix the Cool Whip and cream, or it will become flat and runny. This will take away its creamy texture.
