    This easy Italian Sliders Recipe is not one to sleep on! It's a unique slider that is just as good as these Reuben sliders! The variety of meats and melty cheese is so tasty on the fluffy Hawaiian rolls! The herb butter topping adds a subtle crunch that makes it hard for you to eat only one or‌ two sliders.

    The banana peppers add a subtle spice and tang that I love on these Italian sandwich sliders. Combined with the mayo, lettuce, and red onion, the flavors are traditional and recognizable. They are easily my favorite part of these sliders, besides the saltiness of the salami and ham, and the sweet Hawaiian rolls!

    • Deli meats: I chose ham, salami, and pepperoni. You can find them in the deli or dairy department at your local grocery store. If you like leftover maple dijon glazed ham, it works well if you're looking to use extra food in your fridge.
    • Cheese: Provolone is traditional for an Italian sub, but sliced mozzarella or even pepper jack work, too.
    • Toppings: I combine the mayonnaise with the lettuce, onions, and banana peppers to create a delicious mixture. Then, slices of juicy tomato as well!

    How to Make Italian Sliders on Hawaiian Rolls

    Below are the steps needed to assemble and bake these Italian Hawaiian roll sliders. Line your baking sheet with parchment paper and preheat your oven to 400 degrees F. Serve them with air fryer steak fries if you're making them for dinner!

    Step 1: Layer cheese and meat. After you slice your rolls in half, layer half of the provolone at the bottom, followed by ham, pepperoni, and salami. Then, pop them in the oven and bake for 6 minutes or until the cheese has melted.

    Step 2: Make the topping mixture. Combine the mayo, onion, lettuce, and half of the Italian seasoning in a bowl, stirring until incorporated.

    Step 3: Add the toppings. Layer the lettuce mixture, tomato slices, and remaining cheese onto the sliders.

    Step 4: Top and bake. Pop the tops of the rolls onto the sliders, brush with melted butter, and then sprinkle with Italian seasoning. Bake them for 15 minutes or until golden!

    • Use foil if needed: If the tops of the sliders are browning too quickly, you may tent them with foil for a few minutes of baking time.
    • Pat the tomatoes dry: Fresh tomatoes give off a lot of moisture, so I like to pat them dry before I add them to the Italian sliders. This prevents the bread from becoming soggy.
    • Allow them to rest: Give the sliders a couple of minutes to cool before slicing and serving, so the cheese can firm up.

    Ingredients
      

    • 12 sweet Hawaiian rolls
    • ½ pound sliced ham
    • ¼ pound sliced salami
    • ¼ pound sliced pepperoni
    • 12 slices of provolone cheese
    • 1 ½ cups shredded lettuce
    • ½ cup canned mild banana pepper slices plus about 2 tablespoons of the juice
    • ¼ cup mayonnaise
    • ½ cup red onion sliced thin
    • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
    • 2 tablespoons melted butter
    • 12 thin slices of fresh tomato

    Instructions
     

    • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
    • Place the rolls on a baking sheet or baking dish lined with parchment paper. Without separating the rolls, cut the tops off using a serrated knife and set the tops aside.
    • Layer 6 slices of cheese, ham, pepperoni, and salami on top of the bottom layer of rolls, and bake in the preheated oven for 6 minutes until the cheese melts.
    • Add the lettuce, onion, mayonnaise, and half of the Italian seasoning to a medium mixing bowl and stir to combine.
    • Remove the bottom layer from the oven and layer the lettuce mixture, tomatoes, and the remaining cheese.
    • Place the top layer of the rolls on top. Brush the melted butter on top of the rolls and sprinkle the remaining Italian seasoning on top.
    • Bake the sliders in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
    • Slice each slider apart and serve warm.

    Notes

    • Feel free to prepare this Italian sliders recipe and enjoy them cold instead of baking them.
    • Pat the fresh tomatoes dry to keep them from making the Hawaiian rolls wet and soggy.
    • Cover the sliders with foil for part of the baking time if you notice that the tops of the rolls are browning too quickly.
