Ingredients
These are the main ingredients to make successful and delicious steak fries in the air fryer.
- Potatoes: Russet potatoes are my favorite variety for french fries. They get nice and crispy while remaining soft on the inside. Other varieties like red potatoes won’t give you the same texture.
- Olive Oil: This is for coating the fries so that get some nice color in the air fryer. Feel free to use vegetable oil if you prefer.
- Seasonings: I like to keep it simple here and use garlic powder, salt, and pepper. You can adjust the amounts or use a different seasoning like paprika or onion powder.
See the recipe card below for the full ingredient list and the exact quantities of each ingredient.
Variations
- Garlic Parmesan. Toss the cooked steak fries in freshly minced garlic and parmesan cheese for a tasty, sharp flavor.
- Cajun. For some spice, use your favorite cajun seasoning blend. You can also add cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes.
- Salt and Vinegar. Garnish the hot air fryer fries with malt vinegar and sea salt.
- Fresh Herbs. Chopped parsley, chives, and rosemary taste great with fries. Toss them with a little olive oil or melted butter when you add the herbs.
- Spicy: Add a hint of smokiness and spiciness with a bit of chipotle powder added to the seasoning blend.

Storage
- Refrigeration: Place leftover steak fries in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. They do not freeze well so be sure to use them before they spoil.
- Reheating: To reheat, place the fries in the air fryer at 375 degrees F for 3-5 minutes. I don’t recommend microwaving them because they will become soggy.
