The chopped filling means you get the perfect balance of meats, cheese, and fresh crunch in every single bite, while the baked rolls bring everything together into one easy, shareable dish. Simple enough for a quick family dinner but impressive enough for parties, game day, and casual entertaining. These sliders taste like something straight from your favorite deli like our chicken club sandwich. Once you try them, they'll quickly become a go-to for gatherings.

This was inspired by my chopped Italian sandwich and Italian sliders recipe and pairs well with this chicken bacon ranch pasta salad.

How to Make Chopped Italian Sliders

This recipe is easy to follow and comes together quickly. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and spray an 9x13 casserole dish lightly with nonstick spray.

A bowl with shredded lettuce, mayonnaise, red onion, relish, banana peppers, and submarine dressing.

Step 1: Make Lettuce Mixture. In a large bowl, combine the shredded lettuce, ¼ cup of mayonnaise, red onion, relish, banana peppers, and submarine dressing. Mix well until all ingredients are incorporated.

    Sliders layered in baking dish

Step 2: Assemble Sliders. Place the bottom half of your sliders into the oven for 5 minutes to toast.

Carefully add provolone cheese slices and spread half of the mayo on top of the cheese, as evenly as possible. Layer remaining ingredients starting with the ham, pepperoni, salami, the lettuce mixture, another slice of cheese if desired and place the bun tops on last.

Tops placed on sliders ready to be brushed with butter and a sprinkling of italian seasoning on top

Step 3: Brush tops. Brush the melted butter over the slider tops and sprinkle with Italian seasoning.

Step 4: Bake. Place in your preheated oven uncovered for 15-20 minutes or until the tops are toasted, cheese is melted and the sliders are heated throughout.

    Slice the sliders and serve!

Tips for the Best Italian Sliders

    • Extra Cheese: Make sure to place cheese over toasted bottom buns to prevent them from becoming soggy. The second slice, right before you place the top buns on is optional.
    • Prep ingredients thoughtfully: Chop fillings finely and use fresh deli meats for the best flavor and balanced texture in every bite.
    • Prevent soggy sliders: Drain any wet ingredients, toast bottom buns, add cheese to cover bottom buns, and avoid overfilling so the buns stay sturdy and easy to serve.
    • Build for even flavor: Spread the dressing evenly and distribute the fillings consistently so every slider tastes just right.
    • Bake and serve for best texture: Bake uncovered for crisp tops, lightly toast bottom, and serve warm for the best flavor and texture.
    • Slice carefully: Use a sharp knife to keep the layers intact.

    Storage Directions

Refrigerator: Store in airtight container for up to 3 days.

Freezer: Freeze up to 2 months but will lose their texture when thawed.

Reheat: Preheat your oven to 325°F. Place the sliders in a baking dish or on a baking sheet and loosely cover them with foil to keep the rolls from drying out. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the sliders are heated through and the cheese is melty. For crispier tops, remove the foil for the last 2 to 3 minutes of reheating.

Make Ahead: Assemble and refrigerate before baking but are best assembled fresh.

    Chopped Italian Sliders Recipe FAQs

How do you keep sliders from getting soggy?

Drain wet ingredients like banana peppers before mixing them into the filling, layer cheese strategically to create barrier between filling and bread, avoid using too much dressing, toasting the buns, and baking soon after assembling helps keep everything crisp.

Can I serve chopped Italian sliders cold instead of baked?

Absolutely. If you prefer the deli sandwich experience, you can assemble the sliders without baking.

Can I customize the toppings on chopped Italian sliders?

Definitely. Chopped Italian Sliders are incredibly flexible and you can easily make them spicier, tangier, or extra cheesy.
