How to Make Vanilla Ice Cream with Sprinkles

Here are the instructions on how to make this colorful ice cream recipe. You will need a large mixing bowl, an electric hand or stand mixer, and a loaf pan.

A glass mixing bowl with heavy cream and vanilla extract added.

Step 1: Add the cream and vanilla. Pour the heavy cream and vanilla extract into a large mixing bowl.

Heavy cream and vanilla beat together in a glass mixing bowl.

Step 2: Beat the cream. Use an electric mixer to beat the cream on medium-high speed until stiff peaks form.

Condensed milk and colored sprinkles added to whipped cream mixture in a mixing bowl.

Step 3: Mix in condensed milk and sprinkles. Add the sweetened condensed milk and rainbow sprinkles. Reduce the speed of your mixer to low and gently combine the milk and sprinkles with the whipped cream mixture.

Sprinkles ice cream mixture spread in a loaf pan with more sprinkles on top, ready to freeze.

Step 4: Transfer and freeze. Gently pour the ice cream mixture into the loaf pan and smooth it evenly. Scatter more rainbow sprinkles on top. Tightly cover the pan with plastic wrap and place it in the freezer for at least 5 hours or until firm.

⭐ Hint: Be careful not to overmix when adding the condensed milk and sprinkles. Overmixing can deflate the whipped cream, resulting in ice cream that’s less fluffy and creamy.

    • Use high-quality sprinkles: Don’t skimp on the sprinkles! Cheap sprinkles have a waxy taste, while better quality ones are sweet and almost taste like frosting.

    Recipe FAQs

What can I use if I don’t have a loaf pan?

Any plastic container that is safe for the freezer will work great.

How can I prevent the colors of the sprinkles from running into the ice cream?

Use high-quality sprinkles for this that don’t contain wax. Some varieties will also state on the container that the colors won’t run.

    Can I use imitation vanilla?

Sure. I prefer the flavor of real vanilla extract, but imitation will work in a pinch. Just be aware that the flavor won’t be as prominent.
