This peanut butter Chex mix takes muddy buddies to a new level by adding mini Reese's Cups, Reese's Pieces, peanuts, and Rice Chex to create a sweet, chocolaty, peanut buttery snack mix you can't get enough of.

A scoop full of Chex mix over the bowl.

There's nothing quite like the flavor of Muddy Buddies. It's so sweet and chocolaty, and it's always a crowd-pleaser. We love this classic mix, but we also enjoy getting creative with it, with dishes like our sweet and salty Muddy Buddy pretzels.

Peanut butter is another one of our favorite ingredients, and we love to pair it with chocolate in creative ways, as we did with these peanut butter cup brownies.

We took the flavor of chocolate and peanut butter and the sensibilities of Muddy Buddies and combined them all to create this delicious peanut butter Chex mix. It's sweet, rich, and loaded with classic flavors that no one can resist.

Why You Will Love This Recipe

    • Just a Few Ingredients: You'll only need five ingredients to make this delicious snack mix.
    • Easy: All you have to do is mix everything up and enjoy!
    • Classic Flavor: Every bite of this snack mix is loaded with the classic flavor of peanut butter and chocolate.
    • Customizable: You can easily tweak this recipe to make it your own.

    Ingredients

Everything you need to make this recipe is easily found at your local grocery store.

The ingredients needed to make peanut butter Chex mix in bowls on the table with labels to identify each one.
    • Muddy Buddies: You can use your favorite store-bought Muddy Buddies or make your own.
    • Rice Chex: We use Rice Chex but Corn Chex, Chocolate Chex or Cheerios can be used in this recipe.
    • Reese's Pieces: We prefer Reese's Pieces but Peanut Butter M&M's, or your favorite kind of M&M's will work in a pinch.
    • Peanuts: Instead of peanuts feel free to add pecans, cashews, walnuts, almonds or your favorite nut.
    • Mini Reese's Peanut Butter Cups: If you can't find mini's use regular Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and cut them in quarters.

See the recipe card below for the exact quantities of each ingredient.

How To Make Peanut Butter Chex Mix

Just mix and enjoy! That's really all there is to it.

Muddy Buddies, Chex cereal, Reese's Pieces, Peanuts and Mini Reese's Peanut Butter Cups in a large bowl.

Step 1 Add Ingredients: Place all of the ingredients into a large serving bowl.

All of the ingredients folded together in bowl.

Step 2 Gently Fold: Use a spatula to carefully fold the ingredients together until they are evenly distributed to avoid breakage.

    Recipe Tips

    • Fold Gently: A very large bowl is helpful when carefully folding the ingredients together using a spatula to help prevent breaking the cereal.
    • Less Sweet: I like to use a blend of muddy buddies and Chex cereal so that the snack mix isn't too sweet but feel free to adjust amounts of Muddy Buddies and Chex cereal to suit your personal preference.
    • More Add-Ins: Popular add-ins include mini pretzels, chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, caramel chips, M&Ms, popcorn, marshmallows, mini Oreos, mini chocolate chip cookies, nilla wafers or mini chocolate bars. You can mix and match based on your cravings or taste preferences.
    • Storage: Store in a sealed container or in a resealable bag or bags in a cool, dry place. If you're concerned about a cool enough temperature and your mix includes chocolate or other melty add-ins, store in refrigerator and allow it to come to room temperature before serving for up to ten days.
