    Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are a classic favorite for many, but have you ever considered trying a new twist on this popular snack? The peanut butter and jelly graham cracker sandwich is a delightful alternative that incorporates the familiar flavors of a traditional PB&J while adding a wonderful crunch.

    This was inspired by my peanut butter and jelly ice cream recipe and pairs well with this a salted caramel milkshake.

    Ingredients

    Recipes do not get much easier than this. You only need items you may already have in your pantry.

    • Graham crackers: This recipe uses the full size graham crackers but you can also use shaped graham crackers for kids and serve them as mini finger sandwiches for a party. Different flavors of graham cracker like honey, cinnamon, or chocolate also work!
    • Peanut butter: Are you team crunchy or team creamy? Both work great!
    • Jam or jelly: You can use any flavor you enjoy!

    Substitutions and Variations

    Don't have the correct ingredients on hand? Or want to change something up? Here are some helpful tips for you to change these graham cracker sandwiches

    • Full Graham Crackers: Swap for shortbread, peanut butter cookies, chocolate chip cookies or digestive biscuits instead.
    • Peanut Butter: Use creamy peanut butter with chocolate peanut butter, almond butter, or hazelnut spread instead.
    • No Jelly or Jam? Honey works great!
    • Add More Ingredients: Add sliced bananas, strawberries, chocolate chips, or some chopped or ground nuts like peanuts, hazelnuts, almonds, pecans, walnuts or shredded coconut.
    • Frozen Treat: Serve as a cool dessert by freezing sandwiches for a few hours before enjoying.
    • Dip the sandwiches: Microwave chocolate in short bursts stirring in between. Once melted dip the prepared sandwiches in chocolate and place on a parchment lined baking sheet and refrigerate or freeze until set.

    PRO TIP: Be careful not to overload the cracker with too much spread, as it may make your sandwich difficult to eat.

    How to Make PBJ Graham Cracker Sandwich

    This easy recipe only really takes one step but let's break it down!

    1. Spread the peanut butter on 8 of the graham cracker halves.
    2. Spread the jelly on the remaining 8 graham crackers.
    3. Press the two different halves of each sandwich together. The spreads act like a "glue" to hold the graham crackers together.
    4. Serve and enjoy!

    Hint: Lay out your graham crackers on a clean surface. Count how many sandwiches you want to prepare, and ensure you have an equal number of pairs.

    Storage

    Enjoy these fresh for the best results. You can keep keep leftovers PB&J graham cracker sandwiches in an airtight container at room temperature.

    Place a layer of parchment paper between each layer of sandwiches to prevent sticking. They graham crackers may lose a little crunch when they sit.
