Storage
Storing your Christmas marshmallows properly is essential to keep them fresh, soft, and enjoyable.
- Best Results: Store marshmallows at room temperature, in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and heat in an airtight container or a sealed bag. This should keep them fresh for up to a week to ten days.
- Refrigerator: Storing them in the fridge may cause moisture to form on the marshmallows so it's not my favorite. Keep them in an airtight container or resealable bag for up to a week.
- Freezer: You can freeze them up to 2 months but they may be stickier when you thaw them out. If you plan to freeze them make sure to use a skewer or stick instead of the candy canes. Flash freeze them first on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet for an hour. Then transfer them to a resealable container to prevent them from sticking together once frozen. Thaw them on the counter for 15 minutes to an hour before serving.
Tips
To make delectable Christmas marshmallows that will surely impress your friends and family, follow these helpful tips.
- Unwrap the part of the candy cane you will be skewering the marshmallows on and leave the rest of the cane wrapped. This prevents your hand from getting sticky.
- Don’t squeeze the candy cane too hard or it will break during dipping.
- Don't leave the marshmallows in the fridge too long. This may lead to the chocolate cracking. Just chill until set.
