    • Regular-Size Marshmallows: Make sure you're using the regular-sized marshmallows
    • Candy Canes: Regular-sized candy canes make the perfect skewer for these Christmas marshmallows. You can also use lollipop sticks, cake pop sticks, skewers, or straws.
    • Chocolate Chips: We will be using melted white chocolate and semi-sweet chocolate chips for dipping!
    • Candy Color: You can use this oil-based food coloring to add color to the white chocolate. You can use whatever colors you prefer to make your Christmas marshmallows visually appealing.
    • Sprinkles: Colorful sprinkles add a pop of color and texture to your holiday marshmallows.

    Substitutions and Variations

Experiment with these variations to create unique and memorable Christmas marshmallow treats that your family and friends will love!

    • Make Snowman Marshmallows: Simply use your decorating skills and imagination to create adorable snowman faces with icing, and perhaps a hat for added cuteness.
    • Change Up the Chocolate: Use any type of melted chocolate or melting wafers to create different flavors and colors to create a rich and satisfying coating.

    Storage

Storing your Christmas marshmallows properly is essential to keep them fresh, soft, and enjoyable.

    • Best Results: Store marshmallows at room temperature, in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and heat in an airtight container or a sealed bag. This should keep them fresh for up to a week to ten days.
    • Refrigerator: Storing them in the fridge may cause moisture to form on the marshmallows so it's not my favorite. Keep them in an airtight container or resealable bag for up to a week.
    • Freezer: You can freeze them up to 2 months but they may be stickier when you thaw them out. If you plan to freeze them make sure to use a skewer or stick instead of the candy canes. Flash freeze them first on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet for an hour. Then transfer them to a resealable container to prevent them from sticking together once frozen. Thaw them on the counter for 15 minutes to an hour before serving.

    Tips

To make delectable Christmas marshmallows that will surely impress your friends and family, follow these helpful tips.

    • Unwrap the part of the candy cane you will be skewering the marshmallows on and leave the rest of the cane wrapped. This prevents your hand from getting sticky.
    • Don't squeeze the candy cane too hard or it will break during dipping.
    • Don't leave the marshmallows in the fridge too long. This may lead to the chocolate cracking. Just chill until set.
