This chocolate-covered Strawberry Granola is way better than any other store-bought variety that I have tried. Who knew homemade granola could be this good? I didn’t think it was worth any of the extra effort, but I was wrong! The oats and nuts are even crunchier, and it’s perfectly sweetened with coconut, brown sugar, and honey.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- It’s so easy to make: It’s a simple recipe that takes minimal effort to put together. Most of the process is stirring ingredients and waiting for it to bake!
- You have control over the sugar: I love homemade granola because you have complete control over the sweeteners you use and the amount of sugar you add.
- It’s customizable: This recipe is easy to make your own, so feel free to get creative with the nuts and fruit used.
Ingredients
Items like freeze-dried strawberries and coconut are not very common, but can typically be found in the baking aisle at most grocery stores. The remaining ingredients are used way more often, and you may even have them in your kitchen right now.

- Oats: I use rolled oats for this granola recipe. They offer the perfect crunchy texture. Instant oats work but will result in a different texture.
- Nuts: Chopped pecans and almond slices are my go-to for granola. You can use another variety like peanuts or even hazelnuts if you like.
- Coconut: I love the texture of shredded coconut in this homemade granola with strawberries.
- Brown sugar and honey: I like a combination of brown sugar and honey for both sweetness and depth. Feel free to use all honey if you prefer!
- Avocado oil: This is the key to achieving perfectly crunchy granola. Coconut oil works great here, too.
- Flavor Enhancers: I add a splash of vanilla extract to enhance the flavors of the chocolate and strawberries. I also use a small amount of salt to balance the other ingredients, and cinnamon to add flavor and warmth.
- Freeze-dried strawberries: You can buy these at the grocery store or use your favorite freeze-fried strawberry recipe.
- Chocolate: I use dark chocolate chunks to stir into the granola, and then drizzle it with melted chocolate to make it even more indulgent.
See the recipe card below for exact ingredient amounts, nutritional information, and detailed instructions.
Variations
- Vegan-friendly: Swap honey for maple syrup and use dairy-free chocolate to make vegan granola.
- Mixed fruit: Add dried cranberries and cherries along with the freeze-dried strawberries for extra natural sweetness.
- Spiced: Stir in more warm spices like nutmeg, ginger, and cloves to make a spiced version.
How to Make Strawberry Granola
Here are the directions on how to make this strawberry granola recipe. To get started, preheat your oven to 325°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 1: Combine the ingredients. Add the oats, nuts, coconut, sugar, and salt to a large mixing bowl. Stir the ingredients until they are well mixed. Then, add the honey, oil, and vanilla. Ensure all of the dry components are fully coated before you move on.

Step 2: Bake. Pour the granola mixture onto the prepared pan and spread it nicely and evenly. Pop it into the oven and bake it for 20-25 minutes or until it’s perfectly golden and crispy. Stir it halfway through to ensure it’s browning evenly.

Step 3: Cool and add berries and chocolate. Allow the granola to completely cool. Then, gently stir in the chocolate chunks and freeze-dried strawberries.

Step 4: Drizzle melted chocolate. Melt the extra dark chocolate in a small bowl. Use a spoon to drizzle it all over the finished granola for even more richness.

Step 5: Set and serve. Allow the chocolate to set before you serve or store it. Enjoy!
Recipe Tips
- Keep a close eye on the oven: The granola is susceptible to burning or overbrowning in the oven so be sure to watch it closely as it bakes.
- Don’t add chocolate too early: Once you pull the granola out of the oven, allow it plenty of time to cool before you add the chocolate chunks. Otherwise, they will begin to melt.
- Make it in a skillet: Try toasting the oats and nuts in the oil in a large skillet instead of the oven. Heat over medium-low heat until they start to brown. Then, add the sugar and honey.

Recipe FAQs
I don’t recommend adding fresh fruit to granola. The moisture will make it soggy and it will spoil much faster.
I don’t recommend it to keep the granola crispy and crunchy. It’s perfectly fine stored on the counter or pantry in your kitchen.
