This Buffalo chicken wonton cups recipe takes everything we love about Buffalo chicken dip and chips and mashes it all together in delicious little crispy cups!

One of my favorite party recipes to make is Buffalo chicken. You pair that with some chips, and you've got a movie night or game day winner. So I decided to put the dip and chips together in these delicious, crispy cups.
Buffalo Chicken Wonton Recipe
These bite sized buffalo wonton cups were inspired by my other buffalo chicken dip recipe and smoked buffalo chicken dip recipe on this site. It pairs well with these amazing air fryer pita chip, oven-baked pita chips, and bagel chip recipes.

It only takes a few simple ingredients that you can find at your local grocery store to make this recipe. Be sure to check the recipe card at the end of the post for exact amounts.

- Buffalo sauce
- Red pepper flakes

Substitutions and Variations
- Add Peppers - Try adding diced bell or banana peppers.
- Add Vegetables - Dice vegetables like artichoke hearts, celery, olives, corn, mushrooms, roasted red peppers, sun-dried tomatoes,
- Cream Cheese - Use sour cream, greek yogurt, or mascarpone cheese instead.
- Buffalo Sauce - Make homemade simmering with a whisk for less than ten minutes over medium heat, ¼ cup butter, ½ cup hot sauce, tablespoon vinegar, teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, 2 teaspoons garlic, and ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper instead.
- Garlic Powder - Use minced garlic, garlic flakes, dehydrated garlic, freshly minced or roasted garlic instead.
- Smoked Paprika - Regular paprika if you don't have smoked.
- Dried Parsley - Use dried or fresh oregano, chives, scallions, basil and even cilantro. Use your favorite spice and add a little at first. Taste your mixture as you go.
- Chicken - Use shredded pork, turkey, beef, lamb, jackfruit, or tofu. I've also used diced grilled chicken strips and loved the results as well.
- Vegetable oil - If you do not have vegetable oil you can use canola oil, olive oil or whatever oil you have handy instead.
- Wonton Wrappers - Use spring roll or egg roll wrappers instead, just reduce size.
- Add Cheese Inside and Out - Add a pinch of cheddar cheese, parmesan, pepper jack, or your favorite cheese on top or top mixture before baking.
- Spicy - Add an extra teaspoon of chili pepper flakes, jalapeno powder, smoked jalapeno powder, or chipotle powder to the chicken mixture to imbue heat into the dish. I will also occasionally add an extra teaspoon of our homemade hot pepper sauce, or our favorite hot sauce, to the chicken mixture before baking.
Instructions
This is an exceptionally easy appetizer recipe. It only takes a few minutes, and you're all done! The highlights are here, but you'll find the exact instructions in the recipe card at the end of the post.
1: Whip the cream cheese and Buffalo sauce together. Then, add the remaining dip ingredients and stir to combine.


2: Line a mini muffin tin with wonton wrappers and fill with the buffalo chicken filling.


3: Brush with oil and bake until golden brown.



Storage
Refrigerator: Store for up to 3 days in an air-tight container.
Freezer: You can freeze the Buffalo chicken mixture for up to 2 months, then defrost it, fill your cups, and bak.
Make Ahead: You can make this Buffalo chicken wonton cup recipe a day in advance and then heat it up in the air fryer.
Reheat: Reheat in an air fryer for about 4 minutes at 390 degrees.

- It is important to make sure the exposed portion of the wrappers is brushed with oil. If they aren’t brushed with oil, they will not crisp up.
- Make sure to use room-temperature cream cheese for the filling so that it’s easy to mix with the buffalo sauce and other ingredients.
- Use a hand mixer when making the filling, as this will ensure that everything is evenly blended and there are no lumps of cream cheese left in the mixture.
- Line your mini muffin tin with wonton wrappers carefully – they should fit snugly into each cup so that they don’t come undone while baking.
- Serve warm - these taste best right out of the oven, so enjoy them while they’re still hot!

Buffalo Chicken Wonton Cups

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- In a medium sized mixing bowl, use an electric hand mixer to whip the cream cheese together with the buffalo sauce. Mix on a low-medium speed until the mixture is smooth and homogenous.
- Use the hand mixer to incorporate the chicken and spices into the cream cheese mixture. Mix until the chicken is evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
- Line a mini muffin tin with wonton wrappers and place a spoonful of cream cheese filling into each wrapper.
- Brush the tops of the cups with oil, being sure to get the exposed edges of the wonton wrappers. Bake the cups for 12 minutes, or until golden brown.
