How to Keep Sliders from Getting Soggy
Keeping your hot honey chicken sliders crisp and delicious is easy with a few simple tricks:
- Toast the buns first: Lightly toasting the bottoms creates a barrier that helps prevent them from soaking up too much sauce
- Don't overload the sauce: Use enough hot honey for flavor, but avoid drenching the chicken to keep the buns from becoming soggy
- Add a buffer layer: Place a slice of cheese on top of the toasted bottom buns before adding the chicken to reduce moisture transfer
- Bake uncovered: This keeps the tops slightly crisp instead of soft and steamy
- Assemble just before baking: Avoid letting assembled sliders sit too long before cooking
- Serve immediately: Sliders are best enjoyed fresh and warm when the texture is at its peak
Storage Directions
Refrigerator: Store in airtight container for up to 4 days
Freezer: Freeze for up to 2 months but sliders will lose their texture when thawed
Reheat: Bake at 300°F for 10-15 minutes or microwave briefly
Make Ahead: Assemble sliders and refrigerate before baking. Ideally have chicken cooked and ready to go and prepare when needed to prevent soggy sliders.
