This burrata cheese board takes charcuterie to the next level. Ultra-creamy burrata cheese is paired with all your favorite meats, crackers, and vegetables to create the ultimate charcuterie board.
Charcuterie boards are one of my all time favorite ways to serve appetizers at special gatherings. They're so easy to make, and everyone loves to grab what they want and snack as they mingle.
What is a Burrata Board?
A burrata board is a charcuterie board using Italian burrata cheese as the star because it's such a flavorful, unique and creamy cheese. Burrata is made with mozzarella cheese and cream, creating a cheese with a solid mozzarella exterior and an incredibly creamy interior. It's so good!
Burrata Cheese Board
This burrata cheese board was inspired by my breakfast or brunch charcuterie board and easy game day food board on this site and pairs well with these air fryer bagel chips, ranch oyster crackers, wonton snack crisps or baked pita chips.

Instructions
Like most charcuterie boards, this burrata cheese board is super simple to make.
Step 1: Prepare it All
Wash, and dry your fruits and vegetables. Then, slice, cube, and deseed all of it.
Last, using a paper towel, pat each ball of burrata until it's as dry as possible, then set onto individual small plates or bowls for the cheese board.
Step 2: Construct the Board
Decide how you want to arrange the burrata cheese. Place containers with cheese on your favorite board, large platter or rimmed baking sheet. Either in middle or at each end.
Then, add rows of meat, fruit, and vegetables to a board or randomly place them on a round platter. Add asparagus or basil and mint leaves for more color.
Finally place, the nuts and crackers around the board or platter.
Sprinkle the entire thing generously with pepper. Then, drizzle the burrata with olive oil and sprinkle it with salt, chili powder, chili flakes or pepper.
Hint: If you know your entire board will most likely be eaten at your event, you can open the burrata and spread it out in a thick line or swirl for presentation purposes on your board.
Substitutions
Don't have the correct ingredients on hand or want to change something up? Here are some helpful tips for you to change this burrata cheese board.
- Burrata Cheese Balls - Use whole milk or fresh mozzarella, buffalo mozzarella, feta cheese (watch salt use because feta is usually salty), ricotta cheese, cashew or almond cheese or queso fresco cheese can be used instead
- Olive Oil - use truffle oil or garlic infused olive oil instead
- Salt - use truffle salt for a slightly different flavor
- Cherry Tomatoes - Use grape tomatoes, heirloom tomatoes, roasted tomatoes, balsamic tomatoes or sun dried tomatoes
- Crackers - Multigrain, crackers with seeds, pita chips, wonton crisps or bagel chips work great
- Basil and Mint Leaves - Use dill, chives, thyme, oregano, and parsley instead
- Meats - use hot capocollo, pancetta or calabrese or your favorite charcuterie meats
- Nuts - Use walnuts or pistachios
- Other Cheeses - Whole milk mozzarella, buffalo mozzarella, feta, ricotta, cashew or almond cheese, queso fresco will work in a pinch
- Different Fruits - don't hesitate to switch fruits and use your favorites such as Cherries, Blackberries, Blueberries, Plums, Grapes, Nectarines, Mangoes, Apricots, Figs or Dates
- Spicy or Sweet Peppers - add chopped or whole sweet peppers, maybe some roasted red peppers or hot jalapenos (or your favorite hot pepper) to the board to add some sweet or heat, if desired
Variations
Want to personalize this burrata board recipe? Here are some of my tried and true tips for changing it.
- Balsamic Vinegar, Balsamic Glaze or Balsamic Reduction - drizzle a little with the olive oil on top of your burrata cheese for some additional flavor. Taste a sample before drizzling it everywhere to make sure you'll enjoy it
- Burrata Cheese Balls - instead of placing burrata cheese in small containers on your cheese board simply spread the cheese in a thick straight line or in a swirl pattern using a rubber spatula
- Pesto - Add your favorite pesto to your burrata cheese to alter the flavor
- Add Greens - Add some arugula, kale or spinach
- Olives - sliced black or green olives are an excellent addition
- Capers - add to flavor each bite
- Individual Trays - make smaller, individual trays if that's more convenient.

Storage
Store in an airtight container, covered with it's liquid (or water if necessary) in the refrigerator for up to 3 maybe 4 days. Store fresh burrata in its unopened store packaging and watch the best before date. I wouldn't use it more than a few days past that date.
The burrata cheese is known for its short shelf life and will only last for a day or two after opening. Again, once opened, store it in the original liquid for best results but water will do in a pinch.
Once you cut into a ball of burrata, it's best consumed immediately. Burrata does not freeze well at all. It loses it's creamy texture and becomes watery unfortunately in my experience.
Store the other individual ingredients separately at room temperature or in the refrigerator as required by each individual ingredient.
Tips
This is an easy burrata cheese board to make, but burrata can be finicky. I have a few tips to help you with that.
- For the best results Burrata cheese should be served at room temperature.
- Remove it from your fridge around 30 minutes before needed to serve.
- Burrata is best served fresh so purchase it as close to when you need it as possible. Use best before expiry date and do not open until ready to use
- Salt brings out flavor so add it liberally to your burrata with the drizzled olive oil
- Only use full basil leaves that look fresh and healthy otherwise they can have a bitter flavor.
- Mint wilts so easily, so place on the board last, ideally right before serving so it looks its best for the longest amount of time.
- Add basil on top of the tomatoes and mint on top of the peaches for some tasty flavor matching
- Cut fruits and vegetables into uniform bite sized pieces
- Always make salt and pepper available to your guests when serving charcuterie boards
Other Uses for Burrata Cheese
- Place a few spoonfuls on fresh, hot pizza, right out of the oven
- Add some to pasta dishes that would benefit from some creamy mozzarella right before serving
- Grilled cheese with some cooked bacon and tomato
- Toss a few spoonfuls on top of fresly scrambled eggs or on an omelet, right before serving
- In salads, like Caprese
