Why You'll Love This Recipe
- It's only 4 ingredients: I only use 4 items to make these banana peanut butter bites. It doesn't get any simpler than combining the first 3 and coating them in melted chocolate!
- There's no cooking or baking: You can leave the oven off for this entire recipe. You will need a sheet pan, but the dipped banana bites will chill in the fridge and freezer for a bit to set, so you can enjoy them.
- It's budget-friendly: This is a cheap treat! Even though the cost is low, it feels high quality, and tastes delicious!
Ingredients
I have 3 distinct layers for this banana bits recipe, and then, of course, the chocolate to coat them. These are, luckily, all common ingredients.

- Pretzels: I use mini pretzel twists because they are the perfect size for a banana slice. You can use any brand you want.
- Peanut butter: Crunchy peanut butter is thicker than creamy and holds up better with the other ingredients, making it easier for dipping. It adds texture, too.
- Bananas: Sweet, ripe bananas are the star of these banana peanut butter chocolate bites. Try to slice them as evenly as possible to keep the ratio the same.
- Chocolate chips: Semi-sweet chocolate chips are the perfect balance of sweet and bitter, and they help to keep the flavor from leaning too sweet. You may use baking chocolate instead.
See the recipe card below for exact ingredient amounts, nutritional information, and detailed instructions.
Variations
- White chocolate: Coat the peanut butter pretzel banana bites with white chocolate for a different flavor profile.
- Nut allergy friendly: Swap peanut butter for sunflower butter and ensure all other items are nut-free.
- Gluten-free: Use gluten-free pretzels and make sure the other ingredients are gluten-free.

How to Make This Recipe
To get yourself started on sweet bites, line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. This will make life easy as you prefer them.

Step 1: Layer and freeze. Arrange the mini pretzels on the prepared baking sheet. Top each one with a dollop of peanut butter and a banana slice. Freeze for about 30 minutes.

Step 2: Dip in chocolate. Melt your chocolate and then dip each banana bite using a fork, and lightly tap off the excess.

Step 3: Chill them. After they are all coated, place the pan in the fridge to chill for another 30 minutes, or until the chocolate has hardened.

Step 4: Serve. Enjoy every bite straight from the fridge!
Recipe Tips
- Work in batches: The banana bites are chilled before they are dipped in chocolate. I like to do this in batches in case the chocolate starts to harden or the bananas and peanut butter start to get warm. I dip a few at a time and cycle them back into the refrigerator.
- Lightly pat the bananas dry: Fresh bananas carry a little bit of moisture, so I like to carefully pat them dry so they don't slide off the pretzels.
- Try creamy peanut butter: I use crunchy peanut butter for the texture and thicker consistency, but you may try this recipe with creamy peanut butter if you like. Avoid natural peanut butter as it's very oily.
- Storing: Store them in the refrigerator for up to 1 week in an airtight container. You may freeze them in a Ziploc bag for up to 1 month.

Serving Suggestions
- Use these chocolate-covered bananas with peanut butter as fun toppings for ice cream. peanut butter brownie ice cream and homemade banana ice cream are amazing options.
- These would also make a fun topping for other desserts, such as Reese's peanut butter pie and chocolate chip cookie cake.

Recipe FAQs
You technically don't need to, but I do anyway because it makes them easier to work with and keeps them from falling apart when you dip them in the melted chocolate.
Over-ripe bananas are much softer and almost mushy. You want them to be ripe so they are sweet, but not so much that they fall apart.
This is a common problem. I like to add a little coconut oil to help the chocolate "thin out" a bit to make dipping smoother.
