One of my favorite ice cream recipes is this Strawberry Banana Ice Cream. It’s rich, smooth, and not overly sweet. If you are looking for a cool dessert to beat the summer heat, this should be at the top of your list. It’s loved by kids, adults, and picky eaters. Trust me, I know from experience.

Why You’ll Love This Banana Strawberry Ice Cream Recipe

    • Only 5 ingredients: You can make this sweet and fruit ice cream with just 5 simple ingredients.
    • No churn recipe: There are no eggs in this recipe and no churning is needed!
    • Budget-friendly: The ingredients used are affordable for any size budget.

    Ingredients

Here is everything you need to make homemade fruit ice cream. It’s a basic recipe with everyday ingredients!

Ingredients to make strawberry banana ice cream on the table before mixing.
    • Frozen strawberries: I like to use frozen strawberries for this recipe because of its convenience and it sets up well. Fresh strawberries work in a pinch as well but the mixture will be thinner.
    • Banana: I recommend fresh and ripe bananas for maximum sweetness.
    • Sweetened condensed milk: This is a crucial ingredient to achieve the perfect consistency without churning the ice cream.
    • Vanilla: Not only do you get a subtle vanilla flavor but it enhances the flavor of the fruit as well.
    • Heavy cream: Whipping the cream helps with the texture of this strawberry banana dessert.

See the recipe card below for exact ingredient amounts, nutritional information, and detailed instructions.

    Variations

    • Chocolate: Blend in cocoa powder or fold in chocolate chips. It pairs perfectly with strawberries and bananas.
    • Nuts: Stir in chopped nuts like walnuts or pecans for a contrast in texture.
    • Blueberry: Stir or blend fresh blueberries for even more berry flavor.

How to Make Banana Strawberry Ice Cream

In 6 easy steps, you will be ready to devour this delicious strawberry banana dessert! I would cut the banana into chunks so it blends easier before you get started.

Strawberries and banana in a blender.

Step 1: Blend the fruit and condensed milk. Add the frozen strawberries, bananas, and sweetened condensed milk to a blender. Blend the ingredients on medium speed until they are smooth and creamy.

Step 2: Whip the cream and vanilla. Pour the heavy cream and vanilla extract into a large mixing bowl. Using an electric hand or stand mixer, beat the mixture on medium-high speed for about 3-5 minutes. The cream is ready once stiff peaks form.

Step 3: Combine both mixtures. Fold the blended fruit mixture into the cream until it’s completely combined and smooth. Pour the finished ice cream mixture into a loaf pan. Cover it tightly with plastic wrap.

Step 4: Freeze. Place the pan in the freezer and allow the ice cream to set for at least 6 hours. It’s ready when it’s firm.

Step 5: Serve. Scoop a heaping amount into a bowl and enjoy!

⭐️ Hint: When wrapping it, ensure the plastic wrap is touching the ice cream. This will prevent freezer burn.

    Recipe Tips

    • Add fresh strawberries for texture: To further enhance the strawberry flavor as well as add texture, chop fresh strawberries and stir into the finished ice cream before you freeze it. Try banana slices, too!
    • Storage directions: Keep extra ice cream in your freezer for up to 2 months. When you're ready to serve it, let it sit on the counter for 5-10 minutes to make scooping easier.
    • Try a food processor: If you don’t have a blender, a food processor will work great.
