Ingredients
If you enjoy bone-in pork chop recipes, this one is a must-try. All you need is thick-cut bone-in pork chops and a good quality Italian dressing!
- Bone-in pork chops: I like to use fairly thick pork chops for this recipe to ensure the juiciest results. Around 1-inch thick is perfect. If you use thinner, adjust the cooking time accordingly.
- Italian dressing: A good robust Italian dressing has plenty of herbs and spice to impart tons of flavor into the pork chops. You may use any brand and variety that you prefer.
See the recipe card below for exact ingredient amounts, nutritional information, and detailed instructions.
Variations
- Sweet and spicy: Honey and sriracha provide a great balance to a spicy and sweet marinade.
- Asian-style: Marinate the pork chops in a mixture of soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and brown sugar. Even teriyaki sauce is a great way to infuse Asian flavors into the pork.
- Garlic and fresh herbs: Minced garlic, fresh parsley, basil, and rosemary are great examples of herbs that pair perfectly with tender pork chops.
How to Make Oven-Baked Bone-In Pork Chops
If you are unsure about how to cook pork chops in the oven, the directions below will result in tasty and tender chops every time. When you’re ready to bake, preheat your oven to 425 degrees F!
Step 1: Marinate the pork chops. Place the pork chops into a large Ziploc bag. Pour the Italian dressing over the top and seal the bag, letting any air out. Shake the bag and evenly coat the pork chops in the marinade. Put them in the refrigerator to marinate for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
Step 2: Transfer the pork to the casserole dish. When you’re ready to cook, take the chops out of the bag and put them into the baking dish. Pour ½ cup of the marinade from the bag over the top.
Step 3: Cover and bake. Cover the pan with aluminum foil and bake it for 20 minutes.
Step 4: Uncover and bake longer. Remove the foil and place it back into the oven for about 5-10 minutes or until baked through.
Step 5: Rest and serve. Allow the pork chops a few minutes to rest. Then, enjoy them with your favorite side dish.
⭐️ Hint: Switch your oven to broil and brown the pork chops for 2-3 minutes once cooked. This will give them great color on the outside.

Storage Directions
- Refrigeration: Store leftover pork chops in a resealable bag or airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
- Freezing: I like to cover them individually in plastic wrap and then put them in a freezer-safe bag so I can just take out the amount that I need. Keep them frozen for up to 3 months. Thaw them in the refrigerator overnight before you reheat them.
- Reheating: For best results, place the leftover pork into a baking dish with a splash of broth, cover it in foil, and heat for 10-15 minutes in a 350-degree F oven. You may also use the microwave. Cover them with a damp paper towel and heat them in 30-second intervals until they are warmed through.
- Make Ahead: Allow the pork chops to marinate the day before and bake them when you're ready for dinner.
Serving Suggestions
- Try a sauce. Spoon this Raspberry Jalapeno Jam over the bone-in pork chops for a delicious sweet heat.
- Starchy side dish. Serve these baked pork chops bone-in with a potato dish like these crispy Sliced Potatoes or Fully Loaded Hasselback Baked Potatoes. Pasta is great too like this recipe for Risotto Pasta.
- Veggies. I love making these Crockpot Mushrooms as an easy vegetable side for this recipe.
Recipe Tips
- Let the chops rest after cooking: Allow the pork chops to rest for at least 5 minutes after they come out of the oven. This allows the juices to redistribute so they remain moist when you slice them.
- Use a meat thermometer: You must cook pork to 145 degrees F for safety. If you are unsure, a meat thermometer is a great tool to ensure they are cooked properly.
- Pat them dry: To remove excess moisture, pat the pork chops down thoroughly with paper towels before you put them in the marinade. This also helps the pork to brown in the oven.
Recipe FAQs
Yes! Without the bone, the pork chops will take less time in the oven. Keep an eye on them so they don’t overcook and become dry.
Of course. Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees F and cook them for 10-12 minutes. Flip them halfway through to ensure they cook evenly.
I highly recommend this method if you don’t have a broiler (or if you prefer it). Sear each side of the pork chops in a skillet over medium-high heat for 1-2 minutes for color. Then, transfer them to the casserole dish and follow the directions above.
