Crockpot mushrooms are one of my favorite mushroom recipes. They are flavorful and easy to prepare, saving you time in the kitchen. I like to set it ahead of time so they are ready by the time we are sitting at the dinner table. The fresh garlic and white wine complement the mushrooms so well!
Not only are these mushrooms great as a dinner side, but they are fantastic as an appetizer. I’ve doubled and even tripled the recipe and brought it to a potluck. They are so good just eaten straight out of the pot with a fork.

- Minimal preparation: It takes almost no work to get these garlic butter mushrooms cooking.

- Vegetarian friendly: Take out the parmesan or use a plant-based variety to make this recipe vegetarian.
Ingredients
All you need for this Crockpot mushrooms recipe is 4 common ingredients and tasty seasonings. It’s not only easy but budget-friendly, too.
- Whole mushrooms: White, cremini, and baby bella are all great varieties of mushrooms. If you want a more robust flavor, I recommend the baby bellas. My go-to is usually white mushrooms.
- Dry white wine: The best dry white wines for cooking are Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc. There are plenty of inexpensive varieties at the grocery store.
- Butter: I highly recommend unsalted butter to tame the salty flavor. It doesn’t need to be softened or melted. Just add it to the crockpot as is!
- Garlic: I prefer freshly minced garlic over jarred garlic for this recipe. It has a fresh flavor and doesn’t overcook in the Crockpot. Feel free to add a little more if you are a garlic lover!
- Spices: I keep it simple with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Dried thyme is a great choice as well. It pairs well with the garlic and butter flavors.
See the recipe card below for exact ingredient amounts, nutritional information, and detailed instructions.
Variations
- Asian-style mushrooms: Add soy sauce and grated ginger for a tasty Asian flair.
- Sweet balsamic mushrooms: Brown sugar and balsamic are a great combo. I love balsamic vinegar with mushrooms.
- Lemon garlic parmesan mushrooms: Use your favorite lemon pepper seasoning and finish the cooked mushrooms with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice and grated parmesan.
- Spicy: Add some chili pepper flakes or chipotle powder along with the seasonings for a bit of heat.
How to Make Crockpot Mushrooms
Here are the instructions on how to make delicious mushrooms in the crockpot. Dump all of the ingredients into the pot and let it do all of the work for you. It’s such a time-saver!
Step 1: Clean the mushrooms. Thoroughly wash and dry the mushrooms. Be sure they are completely dry before cooking them so you don’t have too much moisture in the pot.
Step 2: Add everything to the slow cooker. Place the mushrooms into the bottom of your slow cooker. Pour the wine over the mushrooms and then place a stick of butter on top. Feel free to slice the butter or leave it whole. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
Step 3: Cook. Cover the pot with the lid and cook the mushrooms on low for about 3 hours.
PRO TIP: You can also cook the mushrooms on high for 1-2 hours. Check them after 1 hour with a fork for their doneness.
Step 4: Garnish and serve. Top with fresh chopped parsley and enjoy!
⭐️ Hint: I like to stir the mushrooms halfway through the cooking process to ensure all of the butter and seasoning coats them evenly.

Storage Directions
- Refrigeration: Store leftover garlic mushrooms in the refrigerator in an airtight container for 2-3 days. I don't recommend freezing leftovers.
- Reheating: For best results, reheat these mushrooms in a saucepan on the stovetop over low heat or in the crock pot on low until warm.
Serving Suggestions

Recipe Tips
- Try with stock: Don’t want to use wine? Try this recipe with vegetable stock instead. The mushrooms need moisture while they cook so they don’t dry out.
- Don’t overcook the mushrooms: Keep a close eye on the crockpot and the cooking time. If left too long, they will become mushy.
- Ensure the mushrooms are fresh: Use fresh, firm mushrooms for this recipe. This will ensure the best-tasting result.
- Dry your mushrooms: Mushrooms already hold a lot of water so removing water used from rinsing will help the end result be more flavorful.
