This No-Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie is the ultimate no-bake treat. It has the perfect ratio of chocolate and peanut butter to create a lovely, balanced bite. The Oreo crust takes it to the next level, adding even more cocoa flavor and a perfectly crunchy texture that contrasts with the smooth filling.

I make this chocolate peanut butter no-bake pie all the time during the summer. It's an indulgent, chill treat that can satisfy any sweet craving. Just keep in mind that it will go fast! This is true if you bring it to a special event, family BBQ, or keep it in your refrigerator at home.

    Why You'll Love This Recipe

    • There's no oven required: This is one of my favorite summer desserts because it's completely no-bake! I take every opportunity I can get to leave the oven off during the hottest days of the year.
    • It's perfect to make ahead: Since the layers need time to set in the refrigerator, it's great to prepare in advance. This can be if you're serving it to party guests or as a sweet treat at home.
    • It's not expensive: The recipe consists of everyday ingredients that won't break the bank, so you can enjoy a delicious treat without overspending.

    Ingredients

All the important ingredients for this chocolate peanut butter pie recipe are listed below. You can find all of these items at the grocery store anytime!

Ingredients for this pie in bowls on a table.
    • Oreos: This is the base for the chocolate crust. I prefer original Oreos over a Double Stuf variety because the extra cream can make the crust soggy. You may even use a store brand equivalent chocolate sandwich cookie if you like.
    • Peanut butter: Creamy peanut butter is the way to go. I find that crunchy doesn't offer the same result, and natural peanut butter is too oily. You may use your favorite brand.
    • Cream cheese: Soften the cream cheese to ensure each layer is smooth and creamy. Cold cream cheese is much harder to mix.
    • Cool Whip: This adds a light and fluffy texture to the peanut butter layer and the chocolate layer. Feel free to use a low-fat version if you prefer.
    • Cocoa: Dutch process cocoa is perfect in this no-bake peanut butter chocolate pie because it has a richer flavor than natural cocoa.

See the recipe card below for exact ingredient amounts, nutritional information, and detailed instructions.

    Variations

    • Peanut butter and jelly: Add a layer of your favorite jam on top of this easy peanut butter chocolate pie to give it a classic peanut butter and jelly flavor.
    • Graham cracker crust: Use honey graham crackers instead of Oreos if you don't want a chocolate crust.
    • Nutella layer: Swap peanut butter for Nutella to make an extra chocolatey no-bake pie.

How to Make No-Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie

Below are the steps you'll need to prepare this peanut butter chocolate pie recipe. Grease your springform pan generously with nonstick cooking spray before you add your crust.

The melted butter and crushed Oreos in a bowl.

Step 1: Prepare the crust. Combine the melted butter and crushed Oreos in a bowl and mix them well.

Oreo mixture add to a springform pan.

Step 2: Press into the pan. Transfer it to the springform pan and gently press it down evenly.

Softened cream cheese in a large bowl and beaten.

Step 3: Beat the cream cheese. Add half of the softened cream cheese to a large bowl and beat it until it's smooth.

Peanut butter and powdered sugar mixed into the cream cheese mixture.

Step 4: Add peanut butter. Beat in the peanut butter and the powdered sugar until they're fully incorporated into the cream cheese.

Whipped topping folded into the peanut butter mixture.

Step 5: Fold in whipped topping. Next, fold the whipped topping into the peanut butter mixture.

The filling added to the pie crust and spread.

Step 6: Pour into pan and chill. Transfer it to the crust and spread it evenly. Pop it into the fridge for about an hour.

Cream cheese, cocoa powder, and powdered sugar added to a separate bowl and beaten.

Step 7: Beat the cream cheese and cocoa. Add the remaining cream cheese, cocoa powder, and powdered sugar to a separate bowl. Beat the ingredients until they are smooth and creamy.

Chocolate chips melted in the microwave and added to the cream mixture.

Step 8: Melt and add chocolate chips. Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave. Then, once smooth, mix the chocolate into the cream mixture.

The remaining cool whip folded into the chocolate.

Step 9: Fold in Cool Whip. Finally, fold in the remaining Cool Whip until there are no streaks.

The chocolate mixture spread on top of the pie.

Step 10: Chill, garnish, and serve. Grab your pie, spread the chocolate mixture on top of the peanut butter layer, and put it back in the fridge for another hour.

Completed pie garnished with chocolate and Oreos.

Step 11: Serve and Enjoy. Add garnishes like peanut butter dipped Oreos and shaved chocolate on top before you enjoy.

    Recipe Tips

    • Use a premade crust: Try this recipe with a store-bought Oreo crust instead of making it yourself. It's a nice shortcut, but I find the homemade version is a little richer.
    • Don't overmix the layers: Keep the layers perfectly creamy and fluffy by not overmixing them, especially when adding the Cool Whip, so it doesn't deflate or become runny.
    • Thoroughly chill each layer: Allow each layer plenty of time to chill. This will prevent them from bleeding together, so you get distinct layers in each slice.
    • Storing: Store your pie in the refrigerator for up to days, tightly covered with plastic wrap. You may freeze it for 3-4 months.

    Serving Suggestions

    • Add a fun topping to your no-bake pie. Sprinkle on some peanut butter Chex mix or muddy buddy pretzels to keep the flavor profile, but also give it some crunch.
    • Enjoy a very decadent dessert by serving a scoop of ice cream on top. I love this peanut butter brownie ice cream because it has more peanut butter and chocolate flavor.
    • Prepare a fun adult drink to enjoy with your slice of pie! Try a shot like this salted nut roll shot or something warm like Kahlua hot chocolate.
    • Make this no-bake pie and serve it at a BBQ this summer!

    Recipe FAQs

Can I chill the layers in the freezer?

Yes, you can. It takes some of the total time away. However, I wouldn't leave the pie in there too long, or it will freeze.

Can I use homemade whipped cream?

I don't recommend it because it's not stabilized like whipped topping. It will melt and not hold after chilling.

Why is the filling so lumpy?

If any of your ingredients were too cold, it can make your pie layers lumpy. Ensure the cream cheese is room temperature and the Cool Whip is thawed.
