Ken and I love making dips. From parties to movie nights or just an afternoon snack, dips are one of our go-to snacks. This one is so creamy and delicious, we pair it with almost anything.

    Sour Cream Herb Dip

This was inspired by my Caesar parmesan dip, and it pairs perfectly with veggies, chips, crackers, or these smoked pretzels.

    Ingredients

It only takes a few simple ingredients to make this delicious dip. It only takes a quick jaunt down a couple of aisles at your local grocery store to get everything you need!

    • Mayonnaise
    • Sour cream
    • Cream cheese, softened, optional
    • Garlic, minced
    • Minced fresh parsley leaves
    • Minced fresh chives, minced
    • Minced fresh tarragon leaves, dill, cilantro, or basil leaves, optional
    • Bottled or freshly-squeezed lemon juice
    • Salt
    • Pepper

See the recipe card at the end of the post for quantities.

    Instructions

Like any dip recipe, this one is super easy to make. It only takes a few minutes and a couple of simple steps to make it!

    Step 1: Cream the ingredients

Using a hand-held or stand mixer, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, cream cheese (optional), garlic, parsley, chives, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.

Then, add the tarragon, cilantro, basil, or dill if you're using those, and blend until smooth.

    Step 2: Chill

Refrigerate the prepared dip until set. A minimum of one hour works, but longer makes it taste even better.

Hint: If you use cream cheese, be sure it's completely softened for the best possible texture.

I still can't decide whether I like this dip better with cream cheese or without. Both ways are super tasty though and oh so good.  And as far as dips for chips go, this one is a winning recipe.
