Cheesy Chili Dog Casserole is an easy dinner to make for busy weeknights. Who doesn’t like chili, cheese, hot dogs and tater tots? It’s my guilty pleasure!  I can't help it, on occasion, I crave hot dogs, covered in chili with cheese and lots of tater tots all over the top!  So easy to make and totally delicious!

Our recipe for the Ultimate Slow Cooker Chili is perfect for this Cheesy Chili Dog Casserole.  Truthfully though, your favorite canned chili will do just fine!  I always keep a few cans of chili in the cupboard just so I am ready when the mood strikes me!

Don't get me wrong, everyone loves this simple casserole.  My son used to request this casserole all of the time when he was young!  I didn't make it very often but when I did it always disappeared so fast!

You can cut the hot dogs into pieces that are any size you desire!  I prefer bite sized pieces but you truly can make the any size you want.  My close friend Julie actually chops the hot dogs into small pieces and mixes them in with the chili.  Just as delicious and definitely worth a try!

This Cheesy Chili Dog Casserole is also perfect for busy weeknights!  This dish involves little preparation time and takes 30 minutes to bake!  All in one meals don't get any quicker than that!

Ingredients for Chili Cheese Hot Dog Casserole

    • chili
    • tater tots
    • hot dogs
    • shredded cheese

How to make Chili Cheese Dog Casserole

Place sliced hot dogs all over the bottom of the pan.

Cover the hot dogs with chili and then sprinkle a layer of cheese. We find this helps the tater tots not get soggy.

Next place your frozen tater tots in rows and columns. Put as many frozen tater tots as you can without overlapping.

    Add remaining cheese on top.

    Bake.

I think I have loved tater tots all my life!  Am I the only one?  I hope not.  I always have a bag in the freezer at all times, just for when the mod strikes me.  We have a few recipes that use them and I have included the links below, just in case you are like me and enjoy them once and a while!
