Ingredients
These are all of the components I use to make this crockpot ranch chicken with potatoes and carrots. It focuses on easy-to-find ingredients that you can keep in your pantry, so you may make this whenever you want.

- Chicken breasts: I use boneless skinless chicken breasts for this recipe. You may also use boneless skinless chicken thighs just keep in mind that they may take a little longer to cook.
- Cream of chicken soup: This adds a creamy texture and plenty of savory flavor to the recipe. I like the combination of this soup with the ranch seasoning to create crockpot creamy ranch chicken.
- Ranch seasoning mix: Who knew crockpot chicken with a ranch packet would be so amazing? It’s even better than using it for a dip!
- Potatoes and carrots: I use baby Yukon gold potatoes and baby carrots in this ranch chicken recipe. I like the soft texture of Yukon potatoes, but you may use red potatoes instead. You may also cut regular carrots, but I go with baby carrots for convenience.
- Milk: I combine the cream soup with milk to create a sauce to pour over the top of the chicken and vegetables. You may use any variety of milk, including low-fat and plant-based.
See the recipe card below for exact ingredient amounts, nutritional information, and detailed instructions.
Variations
- Loaded veggie: Add green beans, broccoli, and corn for an even heartier version of this ranch crockpot chicken recipe.
- Cheesy bacon: Chopped bacon, shredded cheddar, and cream cheese are great additions to make this into a cheesy chicken and potato dish.
- Garlic parmesan: Stir in grated parmesan cheese and extra minced garlic for a stronger garlic and cheese flavor.
How to Make Creamy Ranch Chicken in the Crock Pot
Here are the instructions on how to make crockpot chicken ranch and potatoes. Make sure you gather all of your ingredients and grease your crockpot with cooking spray before you get started!

Step 1: Layer the veggies and chicken. Add your baby potatoes and carrots to the bottom of the slow cooker. Add the chicken breasts right on top.

Step 2: Make the sauce mixture. Whisk together the cream of chicken soup, ranch seasoning, and milk.

Step 3: Add the mixture to the pot. Pour the ranch soup mixture evenly over the top of the chicken and veggies.

Step 4: Cook. Pop the lid on and let it cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.

Step 5: Garnish and serve. Sprinkle freshly chopped parsley on top, and then dinner is ready!
Recipe Tips
- Don’t overcook the chicken: Keep an eye on the chicken to ensure that it fully cooks but doesn’t cook too long. This can make the chicken dry and the potatoes mushy.
- Check for doneness: It’s helpful to use a thermometer if you’re unsure if the chicken is ready. It must be cooked to an internal temperature of at least 165 degrees F to be safe to eat.
- Use an Instant Pot: Try making this recipe in the Instant Pot. Secure the lid and set it to high pressure for about 10 minutes. Then, naturally release the pressure 10 minutes before you quickly release the rest. Serve and enjoy!

Storage Directions
- Storing: Store leftover ranch chicken in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. To freeze, place the cooked chicken and veggies into a Ziploc bag or airtight container and place it in the freezer for up to 3 months.
- Reheating: You may reheat the leftovers in the microwave or on the stovetop. I recommend covering the plate before microwaving or heating it gently at medium-low heat in a saucepan.
- Make Ahead: Prepare all of your ingredients and place them in a covered bowl in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before transferring them to the slow cooker. It’s a great way to make dinner even easier.
Serving Suggestions
- Bread goes great with this recipe to sop up the extra sauce and juices. gluten-free cornbread and frozen air fryer garlic bread are some of my favorite options.
- You can’t go wrong with more vegetables! I love sauteed cauliflower or these baby bella mushrooms on the side of this crockpot ranch chicken.
- Make a batch of strawberry candy as a quick sweet treat to enjoy for dessert.

Recipe FAQs
Yes! Bone-in chicken adds even more flavor to the recipe. Add 30 minutes to the cooking time to ensure it is fully cooked.
Add some chicken broth to the slow cooker to add more moisture to the chicken and vegetables. This will keep the creamy crock pot chicken from feeling dry.
I don’t recommend cooking the chicken from frozen. It doesn’t always cook evenly and safely this way. Thaw the chicken in the refrigerator before you make this recipe.
