Halloween Jello Shots are a fun addition to any Halloween celebration. They are full of fruit flavor from the Jello, which pairs well with the vodka. I love the distinct layers, and the colors go wonderfully with the theme. They aren't scary, just festive and tasty!

I like to make Jello shots for Halloween because it's a great time to let loose and have fun with your friends! Make it a costume party or a creative dinner party, no matter how you celebrate, these spooky Jello shots are an awesome adult treat.
If you are looking for more no-bake, easy Halloween treats, I highly recommend pumpkin dirt cups and candy corn fudge.

Why You'll Love This Recipe
- It's customizable: You can make this recipe yours by swapping the liquor or the flavors/colors of Jello to make a brand new treat.
- It has a festive presentation: The green, orange, and purple scream Halloween! The distinct layers and decorations make the Jello shots perfect for the spooky holiday.
- It's perfect to prepare ahead: Since the layers have to be chilled as they're added, you can make these Jello shots the day before. Then, they will be perfectly set when you serve them!
Ingredients
The key ingredients in this Halloween Jello shot recipe are gelatin powder and vodka. You can't make them without those components!

- Jello: I chose orange, lime, and grape Jello for this recipe. These are the best colors for Halloween. If you like, you can swap one of them for black cherry to add a deep red color. Regular or sugar-free work wonderfully.
- Vodka: I go with a classic vodka to allow the fruity Jello flavors to fine. Any brand is great, but it has to be chilled before you use it, or the Jello won't set.
See the recipe card below for exact ingredient amounts, nutritional information, and detailed instructions.
Variations
- Coconut rum: Try coconut rum instead of vodka for a sweet, tropical twist.
- Switch up the garnish: Try candy eyes, gummy bats, or even candy corn to keep it festive.
- Add a blood drizzle: Use cranberry syrup or grenadine as a "bloody" drizzle on top of the shots.
How to Make Halloween Jello Shots
Here are the steps needed to prepare these festive Jello shots. Ensure that you have everything that you need measured and at the right temperature before you get started.

Step 1: Prepare the purple Jello. Combine the grape gelatin with boiling water until dissolved, and then pour in the vodka and cold water.

Step 2: Divide the Jello and chill. Divide the mixture between the plastic shot cups and chill for 45-60 minutes.

Step 3: Make the orange Jello. Add boiling water to the orange gelatin and stir until it dissolves. Then, add the cold water and vodka.

Step 4: Add to the cups and chill. Pour the orange Jello mixture over the set grape Jello and put it back in the fridge for another hour.

Step 5: Prepare the green Jello. Combine the green gelatin with boiling water, and then the vodka and cold water.

Step 6: Divide it and chill. Add the green Jello layer on top of the orange layer once set. Chill the shots for one final hour.

Step 7: Add whipped cream. After the Jello shots are fully chilled and set, top them with whipped cream.

Step 8: Decorate and serve. Finish them with spooky sprinkles, and then they're ready to enjoy!
Recipe Tips
- Change the presentation: Make it super fun by serving the Jello shots in test tubes, tiny beakers, or plastic syringes.
- Allow each layer plenty of time to set: Each layer needs enough time to get firm, or the colors will bleed together.
- Go easy on the alcohol: A little goes a long way! Don't add extra because it will overpower the Jello and also make the shots soupy.
- Storing: These shots (without whipped cream) will stay fresh in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.
Another one of my favorite spooky shots is the alien brain hemorrhage shot. It looks gross, but tastes delicious!

Serving Suggestions
- A quick snack to serve with these Jello shots is this Halloween Chex Mix or this Halloween dip.
- If you are looking for more spooky treats to add to your holiday spread, try Oreo spiders and mummy dogs.
- If you want another beverage, prepare this Royal Flush drink as its bright red color works for Halloween, too.
- Use these homemade gummy bears as a fun garnish on top!

Recipe FAQs
I don't recommend it. They become runny when they thaw, and the alcohol prevents them from freezing properly.
If you are taking them to a party at someone else's house, one of my favorite hacks is placing them inside the cavities of a muffin tin. It keeps them from tipping.
The whipped cream deflates easily, and the colors from the sprinkles will run when they get cold (because of condensation). So, I prepare the Jello layers ahead and then add the decorations right before serving.

Notes
- Skip freezing your Halloween Jello shots because they won't work for long-term storage.
- If you plan to take them to a party, transport them in a muffin tin to prevent them from falling or spilling.
- Don't rush the process! Allow each layer plenty of time to set in the refrigerator, or you won't have distinct layers.
