This copycat Big Mac sauce has all the sweet and tangy flavor that we love on the classic McDonald's sandwich. It's easy to make, and it might even be better than the original!

I'm a huge Big Mac fan, and one of my favorite parts of the burger is that great sauce. This copycat recipe has all of those great flavors and then some. It's perfect on any burger, and I use it all the time.

spoon full of big mac sauce held in the air. Bowl full of sauce and a bowl full of sliced pickles in the background.

    Big Mac Dressing

This was inspired by my Reuben dressing and How to Make a Big Mac recipe on this site, and pairs well with this amazing smoked burger recipe as well as wraps and sandwiches. It's just so good!

    Ingredients

It only takes a few simple ingredients to make this delicious sauce. in fact, you might just have every one of them in your kitchen right now!

    • Mayonnaise
    • Minced pickles
    • Sugar
    • Mustard
    • BBQ sauce
    • Garlic powder
    • Onion powder
    • Paprika
    • Salt

See the recipe card at the end of the post for quantities.

    Instructions

It couldn't be easier to make this recipe. It only takes two steps to make this delicious copycat dressing. That's it!

    Step 1: Mix the Ingredients

Combine all the ingredients in a small mixing bowl and mix until thoroughly combined.

    Step 2: Chill

Chill for an hour before serving.

Hint: Sliced pickles are the easiest to use in this recipe because you simply have to dice them vertically and horizontally. No need to worry about slicing up whole pickles!

    Substitutions

Don't have the correct ingredients on hand or want to change something up? Here are some helpful tips for you to change this Big Mac dressing.

    • Vegan - Use vegan mayo for a vegan-friendly recipe.
    • Dill Relish - If you don't have dill pickles on hand, use dill relish instead.
    • Smoked Paprika - Smoked paprika works well in this recipe if you don't have regular paprika.

    Variations

Want to personalize this copycat Big Mac recipe? Here are some of my tried and true tips for changing up this recipe.

    • Spicy - Add ¼ teaspoon of red pepper flakes to the sauce for a spicy kick.
    • Extra Sweetness - If you like your sauce a little sweeter, use a sweet BBQ sauce like Sweet Baby Ray's Honey BBQ Sauce.

    Storage

You can store this sauce in a tightly-sealed container for up to a week in the refrigerator.

    Tips

This is the easiest recipe you'll ever make, so I have no tips on that. I do, however, have some tips on how to keep it tasting great and make it easy to use.

    • Use a squeeze bottle to ensure you apply the sauce evenly to your sandwich or burger.
    • Always refrigerate your Big Mac sauce.
    • Chill for at least an hour before serving so all those great flavors can meld together.

    FAQ

Do you have questions about copycat Big Mac sauce? Here are some of the most commonly asked questions about Big Mac dressing.

Is Big Mac Sauce the Same as Thousand Island dressing?

No, but they have such similar flavors that they can be used interchangeably.

All of the ingredients for the sauce are already refrigerated. Why do I need to let it chill?

Letting the mixed sauce chill is not about getting it cold so much as it is about letting all the flavors meld together.

Can I freeze this sauce for later?

Unfortunately, you can't. Mayonnaise and the freezer are not friends. The sauce will separate and get a funky taste.

What can I serve this sauce with?

Burgers are the first thing, of course. You can also use it on wraps, sandwiches, and even salads. It's great on everything!
