First, I recommend serving them with maple syrup, sour cream, mustard or onion ketchup drizzled on top or on the side for dipping.
Tips
This is an incredibly easy recipe, so we really only have one tip. It's a simple one, too!
- Use a foil instead of parchment paper for easy cleanup as foil evenly distributes heat.
- Don't add too much filling or your sausage rolls may open up.
- Use a metal pan to bake for even heat distribution as glass or ceramic dishes offer uneven heat and can result in soggy bottoms.
- Use whatever size baking sheet you have on hand as the crescent rolls will not spread very much so you can put them pretty close together.
- Make sure oven is fully preheated before adding crescent rolls to avoid soggy bottoms.
- Place baking sheet on a higher shelf so that the top will brown faster.
FAQ
Do you have questions about this recipe? These are the most commonly asked questions about sausage crescent rolls.
Sausage crescent rolls are an easy breakfast, brunch, or appetizer item made with breakfast sausage and cheddar cheese rolled up in a crescent roll triangle and baked until golden.
For two reasons, it's important to use pre-cooked sausage links for this recipe. First, raw sausage won't fully cook by the time the crescent dough is finished. Second, even if it did fully cook, the grease released would make the crescent rolls greasy and soggy.
You can use any kind of sausage you like. Each one will make a different kind of crescent bite. Try spicy sausage, maple, original, or your favorite.
