If you’ve never tried a Snake Bite Shot, now is the time to change that! It’s a simple shot recipe that packs a bold punch. Serve it to party guests or just enjoy it without special occasion, but I promise that I haven’t met anyone who wasn’t pleasantly surprised by the flavor that comes from only two ingredients.

The lime cordial is tart and sweet, so you get a little of both to balance the warm whiskey. This shot gets its name from the sharp “bite” that you experience from the combination of whiskey and citrus.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- It’s just 2 ingredients: You only need the Yukon Jack and lime cordial to make this fun cocktail shot.
- It’s balanced: The bold flavor of the whiskey and the sweet citrus lime create a balanced shot that’s not too sweet.
- It’s easy to customize: There are several customization options to make this snake bite drink shot your own.
Ingredients
Below is all you need to make classic snake bite shots. There are other versions out there, but this one is my favorite.

- Yukon Jack: This is the most common whiskey-based liqueur used in snake bite shots. It has a subtle fiery kick that gives the shot its name.
- Lime Cordial: This lime syrup is used in many shots and cocktails. It consists of lime juice, sugar, and water.
See the recipe card below for exact ingredient amounts, nutritional information, and detailed instructions.
Variations
- Tropical: Swap the lime cordial for pineapple juice for a tropical twist.
- Peach lemonade: Add a splash of lemonade and use peach syrup instead of lime cordial for an extra sweet version.
- Apple cider: Make the shot with Yukon Jack and apple cider for a stronger bite.
- Snake bite cocktail: Pour the Yukon Jack and lime cordial into a glass with ice and club soda for a fizzy cocktail.
How to Make Yukon Jack Snake Bite Shots
Below is how to put the your shots together. It’s quick and easy!

Step 1: Add Yukon Jack. Fill your cocktail halfway with ice and then pour in the Yukon Jack.

Step 3: Shake and pour. Cover it and give it a good shake. Next, pour it right into your shot glass.

Step 4: Garnish and serve. Add a lime wedge and enjoy!
Recipe Tips
- Storage directions: Feel free to make a large batch and pour it into a large pitcher with a lid. Store it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
- Add a garnish: Make your shot fancy and garnish it with a fresh lime wedge, lime zest, or a lime and sugar rim.
- Freeze the shot glasses: To keep it colder longer, place your shot glasses in the freezer for a few minutes before you pour.
