    Honey Sriracha Sheet Pan Sausage and Vegetables is one of my go to recipes for when I am in a hurry or short on time. It's a really tasty sausage sheet pan dinner that is so simple to make. 

    This is the perfect dinner for a weeknight. It takes less than 30 minutes to make, there's minimal cleanup, and it tastes great! This recipe features honey sriracha sauce, sausages with bell peppers, onions, and zucchini. Serve this meal with rice or pasta, whatever you prefer.

    Summer is a busy time of year in our household. With the kids out of school and wanting to be active, it means that we are always running around.

    It's no surprise then that I rely on sheet pan dinners for my sanity! Sheet Pan Honey Sriracha Sausage and Vegetables is one of our favorites because it has a hint of heat from the sriracha sauce without being too spicy or anything. The veggies cook in just 20 minutes while the sausage browns nicely with plenty of flavor. It makes dinner feel like less work when you can make everything at once and clean up after only one dish!

    I also love how this recipe feels so fresh and healthy. I can feel good about feeding my family an easy dinner that is loaded with fresh vegetables. With this sausage sheet pan dinner, I don't have to feel guilty about taking it easy in the kitchen.

    What color bell pepper is the best

    This question is such an open ended question. It really depends on who you ask. If you ask my son, he would say that yellow bell peppers are best. Now, if you ask my husband, he would say red bell peppers are best. As for me, I say which bell pepper is the cheapest and which one I want at that moment. I have to admit I always fall into the typical mom trait of trying to balance the grocery budget with fresh tasting food.

    No matter which bell pepper you chose for this recipe, I promise this meal will turn out great either way. You can decide which bell pepper works for your budget and your family's taste. If budget didn't play a part in my decision, I would say that red bell pepper would be my choice. I love how bright and vibrant they are. It's always said that we eat with our eyes first, so why not buy the bell pepper that catches your eye?

    What is Sriracha

    Sriracha, also known as rooster sauce or Chinese hot chili sauce, is a type of spicy and tangy hot sauce. It can be made with either red chilis (like the one pictured) or green ones. Sriracha is traditionally used in Thai dishes like phat si ew and khao soi, but it has since been integrated into other cuisines. This spicy sauce has become a staple in our household. 

    Ingredients

    • sausage brats (German), honey garlic, italian sausage, andouille, chorizo, kielbasa (Polish) or your favorite
    • bell peppers, any color
    • zucchini 
    • red onion
    • cherry tomatoes 
    • honey
    • sriracha 
    • Worcestershire
    • Dijon mustard
    • cracked peppercorn 
    • garlic powder 
    • smoked paprika

    Substitutions and Variations

    • Other Vegetables: Use asparagus, green beans, brussels sprouts, grape tomatoes, carrots, broccoli, summer squash or potatoes instead.
    • Other Sausage: I used uncooked brats for this sausage sheet pan dinner. You can use fully cooked smoked sausage like Jalapeno cheddar or chicken sausages.

    How to Make Honey Sriracha Sheet Pan Sausage and Vegetables

    1. Cut sausage into 1" pieces. Wash and cut peppers, zucchini, and red onion into 1" pieces. Add all to a large mixing bowl with cherry tomatoes. 
    2. In a small mixing bowl, combine honey, sriracha, Worcestershire, dijon mustard, peppercorn, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Whisk to combine 
    3. Pour marinade into the bowl with the sausage and vegetables. *You can marinate this for up to 24 hours if you are meal prepping or making ahead of time*
    4. Lightly spray a baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray. Pour the sausage and vegetables onto the baking sheet. Place directly onto the grill grate or into the center rack in the oven and cook for 20 minutes. 
    5. Remove from heat and serve immediately. Enjoy! 

    Storage

    Refrigerator: Store cooled leftovers inside an air tight container inside your fridge for up to 3 days.

    Freezer: Freeze the leftovers for up to three months. When I make this sheet pan dinner, I usually triple it and freeze some for another easy dinner on a busy weeknight.

    Reheat: Just thaw your sheet pan dinner in the fridge overnight and then place it on your baking sheet and bake for about 15 minutes at 375 degrees.

    Tips

    • Slice your sausages about one inch thick.
    • Italian sausage and breakfast sausage will not work well for this recipe.
    • Use any type of vegetables you have on hand that needs to be used up. This sheet pan dinner works well with them all.
    • I like to chop my onions a little larger than the other vegetables as they cook faster.
    • Make use to not overcrowd your sheet pan. Over crowding will prevent your vegetables from cooking properly. 

    One pot meals are a hit in this house because I seem to always have everything I need on hand. Plus, when I get distracted with life and work, then I can still get a healthy dinner on the table for my family in less than 30 minutes.

    Not only are sheet pan dinners healthy and easy, but they are also such a great way to use up the odds and ends of vegetables that you have on hand in your house.     How to choose a fresh bell pepper?

    A good bell pepper should be firm and not too soft. It should have a deep color with no cracks or brown spots on the outer skin. Avoid bell peppers that have wrinkled skin or weak spots as they are bruised and overripe.

    Can I use frozen vegetables to make this sheet pan dinner?

    Sadly, no, you cannot use frozen vegetables to make Honey Sriracha Sheet Pan Sausage and Vegetables. Frozen vegetables just really do not work well when you are using them to make a sheet pan dinner. These vegetables tend to give off a little more water, which can make your sheet pan dinner too runny. An excess of water in your sheet pan dinner will dilute your flavor and make your vegetables mushy.

    What kind of sausage should I use for this Sausage sheet pan dinner?

    I used uncooked brats for this sausage sheet pan dinner. However, the options are endless. You can use fully cooked smoked sausage. When I am using smoked sausage, I like to use a spicy one like Jalapeno cheddar. This recipe works well, even with chicken sausages. Just make sure to find sausages that are in brat form. Ground sausage like breakfast sausage or Italian sausage will not work well for this recipe.

    • Get out and measure all of your ingredients.
    • In a small mixing bowl, combine honey, sriracha, Worcestershire, dijon mustard, peppercorn, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
    • Whisk until blended. Set aside.
    • Cut sausage into 1” pieces. Wash and cut peppers, zucchini, and red onion into 1” pieces. Add all to a large mixing bowl with cherry tomatoes.
    • Stir until blended.
    • Pour marinade into the bowl with the sausage and vegetables.
    • Gently toss until coated. *You can marinate this for up to 24 hours if meal prepping or making ahead of time*
