Food World Plus is set to bring a huge new grocery destination to Mississauga, all built around shopping across cultures in one stop. These six photo friendly highlights show what makes the 176,000 square foot store stand out.
The new store at 50 Matheson Blvd East

Big grocery openings are usually about size, but this one ties scale to a very specific idea. Food World Plus is opening at 50 Matheson Blvd East in Mississauga, in the former Highland Farms location, with 176,000 square feet of retail space.
That makes it one of the GTA's largest multicultural grocery destinations, according to the company announcement. The store is backed by JDass Corp and is scheduled to open on October 30, 2026.
The location matters as much as the floor plan. Mississauga is one of Canada's most culturally diverse cities, and the store says it was designed to reflect the shopping needs of local families and communities across the GTA.
Groceries from several world regions
The clearest visual story inside Food World Plus may be its international aisles. The store says shoppers will find groceries from Europe, the Caribbean, the Middle East, East Asia and South Asia under one roof.
That broad mix is meant to solve a familiar problem for many households: needing ingredients from different traditions in the same week. Instead of stopping at several specialty stores, shoppers can pick up everyday essentials and harder to find pantry items in one trip.
Preet Dass, COO of JDass Corp, summed up the concept by saying the goal is to bring the diversity of global food markets into one destination. The focus is convenience, but also the chance to discover products that may not appear in a conventional supermarket.
Fresh produce, meat and seafood

A multicultural supermarket still has to deliver on the basics, and Food World Plus is putting fresh departments front and center. The store says it will carry a broad selection of fruits, vegetables and ingredients commonly used in international cuisines.
Its meat department includes Certified Angus beef and a fully segregated halal meat section. That detail is important because it signals the store is building around different dietary preferences, not treating them as a small side category.
Seafood is also part of the fresh offering, alongside the larger produce and meat areas. For many shoppers, these departments will decide whether the store becomes a weekly routine, and Food World Plus appears to be positioning them as a core part of the experience from day one.
Bakery, deli and prepared foods

One of the most photographable parts of the store is likely to be the ready to eat side. Food World Plus says shoppers can expect charcuterie, platters, dips and specialty cheeses in its deli and cheese department.
The bakery adds another layer, with fresh bakery products, eggless cakes and a large assortment of chocolates, snacks and candies. That mix suggests the store is thinking about daily shopping, entertaining and celebration foods all at once.
Prepared foods round it out with fresh sushi, coffee and hot food options including pizza, Thai dishes and European cuisine. In practical terms, that means the store is not just a place to stock the pantry, but also a place to grab lunch or dinner.
Specialty departments and household staples

Food World Plus is aiming for the feel of a full scale supermarket, not just an import market with a few standout aisles. The company says specialty departments will include dairy, flowers, gluten free products, international pantry essentials, wine and beer.
That combination matters because it lets shoppers cover the usual weekly list while still browsing for more specific ingredients. It is the kind of setup that can appeal to both experienced home cooks and people simply looking for familiar brands from their own background.
The company describes the concept as making multicultural grocery shopping more convenient, accessible and enjoyable. In other words, the store is trying to blend discovery with routine, which is often the hardest balance for a large format grocer to strike.
Opening week deals and store hours

The opening week promotions are built to get people through the doors quickly. New Variety Rewards members who sign up will receive 10,000 bonus points, and eligible rewards will double for shoppers who spend $50 or more during opening week.
Customers who spend $100 or more will also be eligible for a grand prize draw. The announced prizes include 2-NBA Tickets to the Toronto Raptors Game, a weekend getaway to Elora Mill, a 65" Roku TV and a Hyundai Elantra car.
Food World Plus says all departments will be operating from day one. Store hours are listed as Monday to Saturday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
