This air fryer English muffin pizza features all our favorite pizza toppings piled onto airy English muffins and then fried to golden brown, melty perfection in the air fryer.

I remember standing on a step stool, in our kitchen when I was young. Trying to make an English muffin pizza in our toaster oven.

I had all of the ingredients ready from the night before. I had lots of practice. I knew the setting on the toaster oven and got my pizzas ready to go.

Opened the toaster oven door, and placed my two halves on either side. Closed the door and pressed the button.

I always watched through the window waiting for the toaster oven to ding. I enjoyed watching my cheese melt!

Once ready I opened the door of the toaster oven. Waited for the halves to cool a little and removed them onto a plate. Off to the family room I'd go to eat and watch television.

I remember putting toppings away in the fridge but I never remember cleaning up. Not once. Those were the good old days.

I think of that every time we make this recipe and smile.

    Air Fryer English Muffin Pizza

This was inspired by my other air fryer pizza recipe on this site, and pairs well with these amazing breadstick recipes.

    Ingredients

You only need a few ingredients to make this easy recipe. Maybe a quick trip to your local market.

    • English muffins
    • pizza sauce
    • mozzarella cheese
    • mini pepperonis
    • diced green peppers
    • fresh oregano
    • cooking spray

See the recipe card below for exact quantities.

    Instructions

Recipes do not get much easier or more versatile than this one. Believe me.

    Step 1: Prepare your Pizza

Split the English muffins and lightly toast to prevent your pizzas from becoming soggy. Spread sauce on all 8 pieces. Sprinkle cheese over top of the sauce. Evenly place pepperoni and green peppers on top of the cheese.

    Step 2: Cook your Pizza

Place mini pizzas in your greased air fryer basket. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may be working in batches. Air fryer at 400ºF for 6-8 minutes cook time or until cheese is melted and golden. Top with chopped fresh oregano.

Hint: Lightly toast your English muffins before adding sauce to prevent a soggy final result.

    Substitutions

Don't have the correct ingredients or pizza toppings on hand? Or want to change something up? Here are some helpful tips for you to change this air fryer English muffin pizza recipe.

    • Cheese - instead of mozzarella use an Italian blend, provolone, cheddar, gouda, or your favorite or a blend of your favorite shredded cheese
    • Parmesan Cheese - I like to add parmesan cheese under the mozzarella cheese, or whichever cheese I'm using on top, so it doesn't burn and I get to enjoy the flavor
    • Vegetables - add sliced olives, sliced onions, red or yellow sweet bell peppers, pineapple chunks, diced ham, cooked ground beef, cooked bacon, sauteed mushrooms, or eggplant
    • Vegetarian - skip the pepperoni and use more vegetables
    • Vegan - Use a vegan-friendly English muffin with some vegan pepperoni and cheese to create an amazing plant-based version
    • Pizza Sauce - use another sauce like alfredo, garlic sauce, ranch dressing, buffalo sauce, pesto, tapenade, marinara sauce, salsa, barbecue sauce, or your favorite
    • Mini Pepperonis - Buy regular-sized and cut into four sections per slice
    • Fresh Oregano - Use basil, thyme, marjoram, or an Italian blend
    • English Muffins - Use multigrain or whole wheat English muffins instead

    Variations

Want to personalize this air fryer English muffin pizza recipe? Here are some of my tried and true tips for changing it up.

    • Spicy - add chili pepper flakes, sliced jalapenos, or your favorite hot pepper slices to add some heat
    • English Muffins - Use kaiser rolls, hamburger buns, bagels, ciabatta, pretzel buns, naan, pita bread, or your favorite instead
    • Skip the Sauce- simply add cheese or you can add your favorite toppings too
    • Apple Dessert Pizza - Cover with butter with some brown sugar and a little sprinkling of cinnamon, or cinnamon sugar, if desired. Add some sliced apples and serve with caramel. Adjust cook time to achieve your desired result.
    • S'mores Dessert Pizza - Smear hazelnut or chocolate spread on your English muffin, sprinkle graham cracker crumbs on top, and finish with a pile of mini marshmallows. Adjust cook time to achieve your desired result.

    Equipment

This recipe requires tools you likely already have inside your kitchen. Nothing special is needed to make this easy recipe.

    • Air Fryer
    • Bread Knife or Knife with Serrated edge
    • A butter knife for spreading sauce on English muffins
    • Cutting Board for Preparing vegetables
    • Cheese grater for shredding cheese
    • Spatula or Tongs

    Storage

Leftovers will keep in an airtight container inside your fridge for 2 maybe 3 days before becoming soggy. To reheat, place in a 325 degrees F oven for 5-10 minutes until warmed through.

    Tips

I have a couple of simple tips to help you make the most delicious pizzas possible. It's all about making sure the English muffins don't get soggy.

    • Lightly toast all of your English muffins before adding sauce to try to prevent your pizzas from becoming soggy
    • Also, go easy on the sauce you're putting on each English muffin half to prevent sogginess as well

    FAQ

Do you have questions about making an air fryer English muffin pizza? Here are some of the most commonly asked questions about air fryer English muffin pizza.

Can I make this recipe ahead?

Yes, you can. Simply store made pizzas in an air-tight container, in a single layer inside your fridge for up to 4 days before needed.

    Can I freeze?

Yes both before or after cooking. If before, prepare pizzas as desired, place them on a rimmed baking sheet, and freeze for an hour. Once frozen, place in a resealable freezer bag or airtight container inside the freezer until needed. If cooked, allow pizzas to cool, place on a baking sheet, and then inside the freezer for an hour until frozen. Place frozen pizzas inside a resealable freezer bag or in an air-tight container. When desired, remove as many pizzas as required and return the remaining back to the freezer until needed.

    How do I reheat?

Simply remove uncooked pizzas from the freezer and place on the counter while the oven preheats to 375 degrees F. Once preheated, place on a baking sheet and cook for 12 to 15 minutes and the cheese looks wonderful and melted. If pizzas are cooked, preheat the oven to 325 degrees and reheat for 15 - 20 minutes, and heated through.

Just a note that English muffins should be split with a fork, not cut with a knife, which enhances the texture.

You’re most definitely correct! I stand corrected. Both methods will work to make this easy recipe. All the best. Karin
