Air Fryer Wontons are a fun and easy snack that you can customize. The idea is simple: fill wonton wrappers with your favorite pizza toppings. Finally, you bake them in an air fryer or regular oven until they're crispy on the outside but still gooey inside!

These Pizza Wontons are so easy to make that even your kids can make them for themselves.  You may just need to help them seal up the wonton wrappers that can take a little finesse.

Not only do these air fryer pizza wontons make for a simple after school snack , but you can have a snack for game day or even serve them as an appetizer for your next dinner party.

Where do I buy wonton wrappers

Wonton wrappers are sold at most supermarkets. I usually buy mine from the produce department right next to where all of the tofu is. Keep in mind that they may be in different places at different stores. They are usually in the same place as tofu and other Asian food ingredients.

These wonton wrappers come in two sizes so be careful to pick the right ones for this recipe. For this recipe you will need the smaller square wrappers.

Mix and match your desired flavors of cheese, pepperoni, sausage, etcetera and put it in a small ball inside the wrapper. Then seal them up like normal wontons.

How do I seal my wontons

First, I put a small bowl of water on a paper towel to help keep my fingers from sticking to the dough. Next, I put about 1 tablespoon of filling inside one wrapper. Then I pull the sides up and pinch them closed. Dip your fingers in the water and run it along the sides of the wonton, then seal your wonton to help them stick and stay closed.

Does this recipe require a lot of ingredients

No, you just need some pizza sauce, cheese, pepperoni or sausage and wonton wrappers. Pizza Sauce: I always have pizza sauce on hand in my fridge since it's so easy to make homemade. If you don't want to spend the time making pizza sauce, save time by using a store bought pizza sauce.

Can I make homemade pizza wontons ahead

These pizza wontons are best served right out of the air fryer when they are crispy. However, if you want to make them ahead of time, I would recommend storing them on a sheet pan in the fridge  covered in aluminum foil for up to three days and reheating in the air fryer or oven at 350 degrees for about 5-10 minutes

Can I freeze these air fryer pizza wontons

You can freeze the uncooked pizza wontons in an airtight container.  No need to thaw them out before you finish baking them until they are crispy. If you are baking them in the oven they will take about 15 minutes. Or, if you are heating frozen pizza wontons in the air fryer they will take 5 -8 minutes in the air fryer at 350 degrees.

How long can I store leftover air fryer  pizza wontons

Leftover pizza wontons will keep in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Be sure to keep your leftover pizza Wontons tightly covered and cold in the fridge to keep them fresh.

How do I reheat leftover pizza Wontons

To reheat leftover pizza wontons, place them on a sheet pan covered in aluminum foil and heat in the oven or air fryer for about 5-10 minutes at 350 degrees.

What kind of air fryer should I use to make these

You can use any type of air fryer that you have on hand. I prefer a basket style air fryer. If you don't have an air fryer, do not worry. These will also work in a regular oven or toaster oven.

What if my pizza wontons do not get crispy

If you notice that your pizza wontons are not getting crispy, this can be due to overcrowding. First, if you put too many in the pan at one time, they will steam each other and become soggy instead of crispy.  Try spreading them out on your air fryer rack or baking sheet so they do not touch.  Second, if you are using a toaster oven or regular oven, then they will not get crispy like in an air fryer.
