My husband and I both love to put syrup on our waffles, pancakes, and a lot more, actually. However, as much as we love syrup, traditional maple can get boring after a while.

Over the years, we've created some delicious syrups that are anything but boring, and we wanted to share them all with you today.

    History of Syrup

Maple syrup has been around for centuries. While Europeans first became aware of this syrup around 1600, it's actually been around for far longer.

According to the oral traditions of North American indigenous peoples and archaeological evidence, the indigenous peoples of northeastern North America had been making maple syrup and maple sugar long before Europeans ever arrived on their lands.

    Why should you use syrup?

Most people associate syrup with breakfast, and of course, it's delicious over waffles or pancakes. However, there's so much more you can do with syrup.

This sweet topping is actually quite versatile. In addition to putting it on pancakes or waffles, you can drizzle it over chicken and waffles, bacon, sausage, or even ice cream.

The only real limit to what you can do with syrup is your own imagination. We've even put it on our spiral hams to delicious effect.

    What is syrup?

Syrup is defined as any sweet liquid made by dissolving sugar into water or by reducing naturally sweet juices into a thickened version.

Syrups can be made from sugar and water, cane juice, sorghum juice, or maple sap. Our recipes start with a maple base that we doctor up to created delicious spins on the classic maple syrup flavor.
