Buffalo Wild Wings is known for its delicious honey BBQ wings. They are absolutely delicious, and I love them so much. Rather than waiting to head to B-Dubs, I decided to simply make my own.

Buffalo Wild Wings Honey BBQ Wings

This was inspired by my other chicken wings recipe on this site and pairs well with this amazing blue cheese dip recipe.

    Ingredients

It only takes a few simple ingredients to make this recipe. You'll find them all easily at your local grocery store.

    • Chicken wings
    • Ketchup
    • White vinegar
    • Molasses
    • Honey
    • Liquid smoke
    • Salt
    • Black pepper
    • Paprika
    • Chili powder
    • Cayenne pepper
    • Garlic powder
    • Onion powder
    • Oil for frying

See the recipe card at the end of the post for quantities.

    Instructions

This delicious recipe is super easy to make. It only takes a few simple steps!

    Step 1: Prep the Wings

If necessary, use a sharp knife to trim excess skin from the wings, rinse with water, then pat them dry with paper towel.

    Step 2: Make the Sauce

Combine the ketchup, vinegar, molasses, honey, liquid smoke, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, chili powder and cayenne pepper, in a medium saucepan, over medium heat. Bring the sauce to a boil, reduce heat to low and simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes.

    Step 3: Bake the Wings

Bake the chicken wings at 400F for 60 minutes on greased baking sheet covered in tinfoil.

    Step 4: Toss with Sauce

Let the wings cool slightly, then toss them in the honey BBQ sauce. Enjoy!

Hint: Be sure the wings are dry before adding them to the oil to avoid major spattering.

    Substitutions

Don't have the correct ingredients on hand or want to change something up? Here are some helpful tips for you to change these Buffalo Wild Wings honey BBQ wings.

    • Tomato Paste - If you don't have ketchup, use tomato paste thinned down with a bit of water and add a bit of sugar.
    • Apple Cider Vinegar - You can use apple cider vinegar if you don't have white vinegar. It will change the taste slightly, but it's still delicious.

    Variations

Want to personalize this Buffalo Wild Wings honey BBQ wings recipe? Here are some of my tried and true tips for changing up this recipe.

    • Mild - If you don't like spicy food, omit the cayenne pepper.
    • Hot - For more heat, add some hot sauce to the honey BBQ sauce.

    Storage

You can store these wings in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days. For longer storage, freeze these wings in an air-tight, freezer-safe container or heavy-duty freezer bag for up to 6 months.

    Tips

This is a simple recipe to make, but because it involves frying, I have some tips here to make it easier and less messy.

    • Be sure your wings are thoroughly dry before frying to avoid major spattering.
    • Place the wings in the hot oil, don't drop them in.
    • Be sure to only fry 3 to 5 wings at a time so you don't overcrowd the pot.

it shows that you throw them in the oven but at the end of your recipe it states that your are frying them in oil. Can you do it both ways?
