    How to Smoke an Onion

To make these easy and flavorful onions you only need to follow these four simple steps. Then you have soft onions to use for burgers and dips or side dishes.

Step 1: Prep your onions and preheat your smoker

Cut off the tops and bottoms of your onions and then peel off the outer skin. Preheat your smoker to 225 degrees.

    Step 2: Season your onions

Place onions in a foil pan and drizzle with one tablespoon of olive oil.  Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

    Step 3: Smoke your onions

Add the onions to the smoker.  Smoke for 1 hour on 225 degrees.

Step 4: Cover the onions and smoke again

Enclose in the foil and cook for about 2 hours until the onions are softened.

Hint: Use a disposable foil pan when smoking food, it makes cleaning up so much easier.
