Spicy Maple Syrup

This spicy maple syrup recipe is so good and so simple. Use this sweet and spicy syrup on waffles, pancakes, sausage, and even ice cream.

  • Get out and measure your ingredients.
  • In a small saucepan, combine the maple syrup, ancho chili powder, and paprika. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat. Allow it to simmer for 2-3 minutes, or until it starts to thicken.
  • Remove from heat and allow to cool for 5 minutes before serving. Store in a mason jar.

How do I store the syrup?
The syrup can be stored in the fridge for 2 weeks and reheated when necessary. 
Tips:
  • A whisk works much better than a spoon for this recipe.
  • Whisk continuously when simmering your syrup to prevent sticking or burning and evenly distribute flavors.
  • Taste the syrup before serving to adjust the spice level to suit your personal preference. Slowly add until you reach your desired spice level.
