    Korean Beef Power Bowl

Korean Beef Power bowls are great for meal prep and even for a quick lunch on the run. This flavorful dish is always a crowd-pleaser in my home even when friends come over with their kids.

Another absolutely amazing Asian recipe is this shrimp chop suey. Both recipes totally compliment each other!

    Ingredients

You only need fourteen ingredients to make these easy and flavorful Korean Beef Bowls.

    • soy sauce
    • toasted sesame oil
    • dark brown sugar
    • red pepper flakes
    • Asian chili sauce
    • ground ginger
    • garlic, minced
    • panko bread crumbs
    • ground beef
    • shredded pepper jack cheese
    • green onions
    • red cabbage
    • mayo
    • lime juice

See the recipe card for quantities.

    Instructions

You only need to follow these six easy steps and then you will have an easy and delicious beef bowl.

Step 1: Preheat the oven and chop the green onions.

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Chop the green onions. Set aside 2 stalks for adding to the beef bowls once cooked.

    Step 2: Make the sauce

In a large bowl, combine the soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, red pepper flakes, 1 tablespoon Asian chili sauce, ground ginger, and minced garlic. Add the beef, green onions, and panko bread crumbs. Using your hand, mix until well combined.

    Step 3: Form into patties

Divide the mixture into 4 portions. Form a ball with each portion, then flatten into a patty. Use a ramekin to shape the beef into a bowl.

    Step 4: Bake the beef

Place each beef bowl onto a baking sheet face down, using an oven-safe ramekin to hold its shape. Cover with foil. Put in the oven on the center rack and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil covering and flip the beef bowls over, removing the ramekins. Add ¼ cup shredded pepper jack cheese to each bowl and place back in the oven for 5 minutes, or until melted.

    Step 5: Make the sauce

Prepare the chili mayonnaise: Mix Mayo with Asian chili, lime juice, and pepper.

    Step 6: Finish the bowl

Fill each beef bowl with ¼ cup shredded red cabbage, green onions, and chili mayonnaise to taste. Enjoy!

    FAQ

Do you have questions about Korean Beef Bowls? Here are some of the most commonly asked questions about this recipe.

    How do I reheat?

You can heat this dish up the same way you would regular beef burgers. Place them on a microwave-safe plate and heat for 1-2 minutes, flipping over halfway through.

Do I need panko bread crumbs?

You don't have to use panko bread crumbs, but it does help with the crunch of these beef patties. You can substitute with regular breadcrumbs or crushed crackers if you'd like.

    Can I freeze Korean beef?

Yes! You can freeze these beef patties in a freezer bag or airtight container for up to two months. Thaw out the beef before cooking.

    What is Asian chili sauce?

Asian chili sauce, also known as hot pepper paste, consists of red chiles and soybean paste. It's often used to add heat and flavor to a dish, especially noodles and soups.
