This was inspired by my carrot cake bars, no bake peanut butter bars and chunky monkey bars on this site, and pairs well with this amazing collection of hot chocolate recipes.

Why You Will Love This Recipe

    • These Kit Kat Cookie Bars are incredibly easy to make and budget-friendly.
    • You'll love the crunchy Kit Kats and the soft, chewy cookie dough.
    • These impressive, crowd pleasing treats are perfect for parties, picnics, or a snack to satisfy a craving.

    Ingredients

To create mouthwatering Kit Kat Cookie Bars, you'll need a few staple ingredients in your kitchen and here's a list.

All of the ingredients needed to make these cookie bars.
    • All-Purpose Flour - The foundation of your cookie bars, all-purpose flour works well in this recipe.
    • Baking Powder - Contributes to a lighter, airy texture.
    • Salted Butter - This provides the delicious indulgent taste and moistness that we all love in baked goods.
    • Granulated Sugar - You can also use dark brown sugar, light brown sugar or a combination. Brown sugars will add a deeper, richer taste, and more chewiness from the molasses found in brown sugars.
    • Large Eggs - These act as a binding agent, giving the cookie bars structure.
    • Vanilla Extract - Vanilla is a universal crowd-pleaser, but feel free add almond or mint instead for different flavor.
    • Kit Kat Chocolate Bars - Consider adding a different treat like peanut butter cups, M&M's, Turtles, Butterfinger, Snickers, Oh Henry, or your favorite, instead of or in combination.

See the recipe card below for the exact quantities of each ingredient.

    Substitutions and Variations

Don't be afraid to get creative with your Kit Kat Cookie Bars! You can add extra flavors and textures by incorporating some of the following ingredients:

    • Go Nuts - Add your favorite chopped nuts like peanuts, hazelnuts, almonds, pecans, or walnuts to give your bars added crunch.
    • Add Chips: Add semi-sweet chocolate, white chocolate, butterscotch, caramel, peanut butter chips or a combination inside your bars for more flavor.
    • Salt: A pinch of salt enhances the overall taste of the cookie bars or sprinkle some sea salt on top of the bars for a sweet-salty addition.
    • Add a Drizzle: Consider drizzling your cookie bars with melted chocolate, chocolate sauce, caramel sauce or caramel.

    Tips

    • To ensure even distribution of KitKat chocolate bar pieces inside your cookie bars, chop your Kit Kats into similarly sized pieces.
    • To avoid having your cookie bars stick to the pan, line your baking dish with parchment paper and cooking spray which also makes clean-up super easy.
