    This Jack in the Box French toast sticks recipe is bringing back the beloved French toast sticks that we all wish were still around. They're golden, crispy, and full of delicious flavor.

    I love the French toast sticks from Jack in the Box. Unfortunately, it's a flavor that you just can't get anywhere else. Literally - you can't. They don't carry them anymore.

    That's why I decided to make my own delicious copycat version. It's just as good as the original. Heck, I might go so far as to say it's better!

    Jack in the Box French Toast Sticks Recipe

    This was inspired by my other copycat French toast sticks recipe on this site and pairs well with these delicious omelet cups for a sweet and savory breakFEAST.

    • Hearty White Bread - Whole wheat, sourdough, multigrain, or gluten-free.
    • Add an Extract - Try adding vanilla, almond, coconut, lemon, banana, maple or orange extract and a little flavor.
    • Milk - Use dairy-free milk options like almond milk, oat milk, coconut, or soy milk.
    • Sugar - Use none or replace with honey, agave, or maple syrup instead in egg mixture or served on top, or use cinnamon sugar instead.
    • Salt - Omit if using salted butter.
    • Add Flavor - Add cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin pie spice, or ginger to the egg mixture for added flavor
    • Add a Sprinkle - Dust with powdered sugar as soon as cooked and removed from skillet, before cooking sprinkle crushed cereal, crushed nuts, shredded coconut, or some cinnamon sugar on top of sticks before cooking,

    1: Remove the crust from the bread and slice it into strips.

    2: Combine the egg ingredients.

    Storage

    Refrigerator: Store for up to 3 days in an air-tight container.

    Freezer: Store for up to 3 months in an air-tight, freezer-safe container or heavy-duty freezer bags.

    Make Ahead: These French toast sticks are just as delicious when reheated, so you can make them a day or even 2 in advance.

    Reheat: Add the sticks to a skillet with melted butter and cook over medium heat until heated through.

    • For even crispier French toast, place pieces under a broiler after cooking in order to get those perfect golden brown edges on both sides.
    • Use a spatula or tongs to remove the toast sticks from the pan, as they are delicate and can fall apart.

    Yes, you can use gluten-free bread for this recipe and it will still turn out delicious!
