- 2 slices of sourdough bread
- 2 tablespoons salted butter
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 2 slices Swiss cheese
- 2 slices of provolone cheese
- ½ pound turkey
- 2 tomato slices
- 4 sliced crispy cooked bacon
Butter one side of each slice of sourdough bread, ensuring the butter is evenly spread to the edges of the bread.
Heat a large heavy-bottomed skillet over medium heat. Place one slice of bread, butter side down, into the skillet. Top the slice with mayonnaise, Swiss cheese, provolone cheese, turkey, tomato, bacon, and then top with the other slice of bread butter side up.
Cook on medium until the bread is toasted. Lift the edge of the bread to check for doneness. Once toasted, flip the sandwich over carefully and toast the other side. Press the sandwich together firmly with the spatula.
Remove the sandwich from heat once the cheese is melted and gooey. Serve warm.
- This is not a recipe that belongs in the freezer. These turkey melts are best made fresh!
- You may prepare it ahead and keep it in the fridge for a couple of hours, but I wouldn’t add butter or toast it until you’re ready to eat.
- Try crisping your turkey melt in the air fryer instead of a skillet.
