For the margarita
In a cocktail shaker, add 2–3 jalapeño slices and agave. Gently muddle to release the flavor and heat.
Add tequila, triple sec, lime juice, and a handful of ice to the shaker. Shake vigorously for about 10–15 seconds until well chilled.
Strain into your prepared glass over the ice. Garnish with a lime and jalapeño slice.
- Chill Your Glass: So your drink will stay cool longer.
- Control the Heat: Remove the jalapeño seeds for a milder cocktail, or add extra slices for more spice.
- Use Fresh Lime Juice: Freshly squeezed lime juice makes a huge difference in flavor. It adds brightness and freshness that bottled lime juice usually cannot match.
- Adjust Sweetness: Taste and tweak the sweetness with agave to balance the spice and tequila before pouring.
- Storage: Best enjoyed immediately after shaking. For a make-ahead version, mix everything except the ice and garnishes, store covered in the fridge for up to 24 hours, then shake individual servings with ice before pouring.
