Smoked Maple Glazed Donuts

Maple Glazed Donuts are simple and delicious and full of a sweet and smoky flavor.

Ingredients

Maple Glaze for Donuts

  • 1 teaspoon maple extract or vanilla extract will work in a pinch
  • ¼ cup whole milk
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar

Instructions

  • -oven and smoker temp and times are the same-
  • Preheat the smoker to 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
  • Get out and measure all of your ingredients.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, brown sugar, and baking soda.
  • Stir until blended.
  • In a separate bowl, combine buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and maple extract.
  • Whisk is incorporated.
  • Combine wet and dry ingredients in one large mixing bowl.
  • Whisk until smooth.
  • Transfer mix into a piping bag, or a resealable bag with the corner cut off.
  • Pipe the batter into the donut molds.
  • There is enough batter for 24 donuts.
  • Place directly onto the grill grates.
  • Close the lid.
  • Cook for 25 minutes.
  • In a small saucepan, combine whole milk and vanilla paste. Heat for 3 minutes over high heat.
  • Remove from heat and whisk in the powdered sugar.
  • Whisk until smooth.
  • Dip the donuts into the glaze then place onto a wire rack lined baking sheet.
  • Allow glaze to harden, about 10 minutes. Try taking a bite!
  • Enjoy every moment.
  • Serve.
  • Store in an airtight container.

Notes

If you are baking these Maple Glazed Donuts instead of smoking them, bake them for 17 - 22 minutes or until they are done all the way through.
