Smoked Green Bean Casserole

Ingredients

  • 4 cups green beans fresh, cut (or 3 cans drained)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream soup mushroom, celery or chicken
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 cups chicken broth or water
  • 1 cup cheese shredded, divided (optional)
  • 1 cup crispy fried onions

Instructions

  • Get out and measure your ingredients.
    Ingredients to make smoked green bean casserole on the table.
  • Prepare a casserole sized foil pan with butter or non-stick spray, set aside.
  • In a mixing bowl combine the soup, milk, soy sauce, black pepper, and ½ of the shredded cheese.

  • Boil green beans in chicken broth or water until they are bright green, roughly five minutes.
    Cooked green beans are ready to add to the soup mixture.
  • Stir in beans and ⅔ cup fried onions.

  • Pour mixture into the lightly greased foil pan.
    Casserole is transferred to a foil pan for the smoker.
  • Pan of green bean casserole is placed in the smoker.
  • Casserole is cooked in the smoker for 45 minutes.
  • Cheese and crispy onions are added to the top of the casserole.
  • Casserole in the smoker is ready to serve.
  • Smoke at 250 degrees for about 30-45 minutes, until the mixture is bubbling.

  • Remove from smoker and sprinkle the top of the casserole with the remaining fried onions and shredded cheese.
    Cheese and crispy onions are added to the top of the casserole.
  • Return to the smoker for an additional 20-30 minutes, until the cheese has melted and is golden brown.
