  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 4 oz butter

Instructions

  • Get out and measure your ingredients.

  • Allow the steak to come to room temperature before cooking. For this cut, this took about 45 minutes
  • Preheat air fryer at 400ºF for 10 minutes so the basket is extra hot and will lightly sear the steak when it's put on. This will give it a little bit more color and the sear will hold the butter and juice inside making it more tender.
  • Coat both sides of steak with half of salt and pepper.

  • Slice 2 tablespoon of butter and place it on top of steak.

  • Cook steak 5 minutes per side, then check the temp. Keep in mind the size and thickness of the steak will affect cooking time, so best to go by the temperature after 10 minutes. It should reach an internal temperature of at least 120°F. See below.

For Rare

  • If the internal temp shows 120°F Close the air fryer and allow the steak to rest inside as it is still warm for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, check to be sure the internal temp has reached between 125-127°F.

Medium Rare

  • Temp is between 130-135°F. Anticipate the steak rising another 5° as it rests when considering cooking time.

Medium

  • Add 1-2 additional minutes for medium. Thermometer should read around 140°F.
  • Allow meat to rest on wood cutting board for 5 to 10 minutes prior to serving. Add another tablespoon of butter while steak rests.
