Ingredients

Instructions

  • Melt your butter in a large saucepan over low heat. Once the butter is completely melted, add the mini marshmallows. Continue stirring over medium heat until the marshmallows are completely melted.
  • Fold in the peanut butter. Gently fold in cereal to avoid crushing it. Finally, add in chopped and crushed Oreos. Make sure your cereal is evenly coated in the marshmallow mixture.
  • Spread your mixture into a 9x9 inch dish. Let your Rice Krispie treats cool on the counter for at least 30 minutes before slicing. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • Storage: Store airtight to maintain freshness on counter or in your refrigerator for firmer texture, for up to a week. Freeze up to 2 months and allow to come to room temperature before serving.
  • Use mini marshmallows: If possible use mini marshmallows. They melt faster over low heat and are easier to measure than regular marshmallows.
  • Use salted butter: Balances sweetness of marshmallows and cookie pieces. If you only have unsalted butter add ½ teaspoon of salt to the marshmallow mixture.
  • Crush Oreos roughly: You can crush your Oreos as much as you’d like. I like to crush them roughly so there are a variety of cookie piece sizes scattered throughout the rice krispie treats.
  • Cut with a sharp greased knife: Clean slices every time.
