Spread peanut butter over half the slices of bread and strawberry jam over the other 4 slices. Sandwich the slices together to form 4 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and vanilla until homogenous.
Coat a large pan or skillet with nonstick cooking spray and heat it for a minute over medium-high heat.
Dip each sandwich in the egg mixture and then transfer the sandwich to the pan.
Cook your french toast for about 2 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
Serve and enjoy!
- Don’t dip too early. Be sure the pan is nice and hot before you dip the sandwiches into the egg mixture. If it sits too long the bread will become soggy.
- Try Texas toast. White bread works great but if you want a stronger bread, thick Texas toast is a wonderful substitute.
- Experiment with jam flavors. Use any flavor of jam such as raspberry or mixed berry in place of strawberry. Preserves can be used, too.
